While digging through some old games in hopes of playing something fun and random, I came across my copy of X-Men Origins: Wolverine for the Nintendo Wii. I bought this game hoping it was just a dumbed down port of the PS3, 360, and PC versions. Or at least be a decent fun little action brawler using a movie licence. It wasn't.

When i first tried this I instantly thought it was horrible and have then never played it since. Having found it again I thought "what the hell, I might find some enjoyment out of this":

I broadcast my whole experience with the game since finding it last night. All 3 minutes of it. Watch the video in it's entirety (is that even a word?) because there is a special twist at the end.

(I just noticed this now but the thumbnail of the video looks like there's piss everywhere!)

That's right, this game is so bad that even my Wii gave up on it.

Masahiro Sakurai says "no plans for new Smash Bros."

Well this is sad news. And to think that announcement was one of my highlight from Nintendo's press conference at this year's E3.

From Destructoid:

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced at E3 that a new Smash Bros. was coming to the Wii U and 3DS, earning himself a round of applause and a fair few excited screams from fans around the world. According to series creator Masahiro Sakurai, however, there is nothing in the works.

Sakurai warns us it could be years before we see another game.

"We've got no plans whatsoever," he admitted. "We've got two new games out in the open when there's no extra time to work with them at all. It makes me cringe, and I'm not sure it's the smartest thing to make gamers wait for several years, but the early announcement was made chiefly in order to attract new team members."

This is quite a shocking development when you consider that Smash Bros. was perhaps the biggest software announcement Nintendo had at its press conference and one of only a handful that the publisher revealed. That the Smash Bros. reveal was little more than a gamble on Iwata's part is pretty galling, to say the least.

Weekend, what are you playing?

It's halfway through June already? That's fast. Summer is officially over for us here in the Philippines but there's still a weekend for hours of gaming on end! What are you playing?

Migoy: Technically I'm not home for the weekend so I'll just mention games I've played these past few days. Been spending a lot of time playing Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers (quite a mouth full ei?). The opening of the game is awesome as shit but then the game changes pace drastically. It's definitely not the game I expected it to be but I am enjoying it quite a bit. You can find some clips of my antics at the TooMuchGaming Youtube channel.

Since I'm going to be out for the weekend, I'll be bringing Phats (my PSP1000) for portable gaming fun incase I need a distraction. Gonna be bringing Dissidia 012 Duodecim as I am still playing that game. I'm also bringing Blazblue: Continium Shift 2, the combo system in the game feels very different compared to the firsy Blazblue so this'll be interesting.

Arlie: I've been playing Duke Nukem Forever since it was released for the PC. I really can't wait to finish it, and honestly I don't think that I will be able to (Yep, it's THAT bad). It is entertaining to some point just because of Duke's humor, but that's just it. In terms of gameplay, story don't expect much also, playing it just to see tits are not even worth it. It may be enjoyable to some people, but it just didn't meet on what I was expecting it to be. When Hong Kong PSN got back online earlier this week, I went back on playing L.A. Noire to redeem my free "The Naked City" Ad Vice Case and Badge Pursuit Challenge DLC off the Asian PlayStation Store. I'm going to get a Rockstar Pass with a friend so I could also get the other DLC cases. I also played Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds a while ago and I already finished Arcade for all the characters and a 100% Gallery for two gold trophies and a couple of online ranked matches (which I lost to almost all of them). What I've been looking forward to play this weekend is Outland and Alice: Madness Returns.

Quash: Arcade weekend!! it's all about arcade games for me this weekend. Took a break from the common genre's like shooters or RPGs so I went with games like Dead Nation, Super Stardust HD and Outland.

Super Stardust HD can be pretty addicting. Aiming for the highest possible score in the game is just enough to keep you playing again and again. I wish it had a couple more planets but replaying the planets over and over to reach a good score can still makes hours go by. Dead Nation? I mentioned this before that I've already finished the game. All I'm doing now is I'm finishing it in another difficulty for some trophies. I always tell people I'm not much of an achievement junkie, but I still bother with some achievements for some reason. Damn those virtual achievements!

Last but not least we have Outland. Tried the demo and I just had to get this game. I bought this yesterday together with my Rockstar Pass(for L.A Noire DLCs) and it's worth the 10 bucks. It has such a great game design and art style. A solid 2D platform game that gives you the old Castlevania feel. I haven't played a platform game in a long time so getting Outland was perfect. I'm like 3 hours in and the game is getting insane.

E3 2011: Wii U hardware details

With Nintendo's announcement of it's new console and trying to wrap your head around it, some details of the Wii U's hardware capabilities have been released. Nintendo has finall gone HD.

The console'sAV Multi-Out can output 480i, 480p. 720o, 1080i, or 1080p via composite video, S-video, component video, or HDMI. For audio we have six-channel linear PCM audio over HDMI.

The optical drive slot will play Wii U games that will be on "12cm proprietary high-density optical discs". From what I can tell it's not Blu-ray and it's not DVD. Maybe something inbetween? These discs can hold up to 25GB of data, the same as a single-layer Blu-ray disc. The Wii U will also be able to play Wii games. As for Gamecube support, Nintendo came out with a "no". We can most likely expect an annoucement of GameCube virtual console releases soon. Or perhaps a series of HD Collections.

The controller will have an AC adapter port so that means a rechargable batter and a "sensor strip". Same IR technology as the Wii perhaps? It's probably that dark strip by the camera on the controller.

The Wii U will contain an internal flash memory, no info yet on the size. Storage will be expandable with an SD card or an external hard drive as the console features 4 USB 2.0 ports.

Its CPU is an IBM Power-based multi-core processor as well as a "custom AMD Radeon HD GPU" graphics chip with a "modenr and rich graphics processing core" that will deliver "high-definition graphics support, rich multimedia acceleration and playbackl and multiple display support," that's all the info Nintendo let out for now.

The Wii U might not support the GameCube but it will support all Wii games and accessories, including the Wiimote and Classic Controller.
