Starfield’s May 2024 Update Includes a Revamped Map, 60 FPS for Xbox, Higher Difficulty, and More

Bethesda has detailed a major update coming to their epic RPG Starfield, which includes improved surface maps, better inventory navigations, a higher difficulty, and 60 FPS options for Xbox Series X players, just to name a few.

This update goes live on May 15 on both PC and Xbox.

The big inclusion in this May update that is worth noting is the addition of the Extreme difficulty for those looking for the most challenging experience in the game. For those in new game plus, you will be given the option to change your character’s appearance and even change specific traits or perks to hopefully spice things up on your next playthrough.

This update also comes with a revamped surface map and improved UI, giving you a more detail layout of key cities and locations in the game, a major improvement considering that the game launched with minimal information in the map that it was difficult to pinpoint where key vendors are in an area.

For console, the much-awaited performance mode is coming, giving Xbox Series X players the option to play the game at 60 fps. Choosing this option will lower internal resolution and detail for special effects, lighting, and crowds.

Towards the end of the video, Bethesda mentioned that they are working on the game’s first land vehicle, another key addition to Starfield as one of the biggest issues since its release is the long travel time between your ship to your designed destination. Simply put, there’s a lot of boring walks to new points of interest.

That isn’t the only thing Bethesda is working on for Starfield as they are also developing the RPG’s first major DLC called Shattered Space, which was first confirmed and revealed by game director Todd Howard himself during an interview at Kinda Funny Games.
