Review Score Format changes
Starting September 7, 2023, all reviews will implement a Buy, Wait for Sale, Don’t Buy format. After further discussion, we feel this is a better format for how we review games as the old 1-10 score format can be occasionally misinterpreted the wrong way. With the current state of the video game industry, we want to keep things simple by implementing a 5-score rating system, which you can read below.
5 - Exceptional
No game is perfect but this is the closest you can get to pure bliss. A true master-class product for its given genre that will likely inspire future games after it.
4 - 4.5 - Fantastic
A highly recommended game that delivered an excellent product with a few issues that don’t ruin the overall experience. It may not break the mold of games like it but the positives definitely outweigh the negatives.
3 - 3.5 - Great
Considered a Great game that players will likely have fun with. Despite the game’s flaws, the game works rather well enough to satisfy the ideal target market. A reasonable amount of positives and negatives that it can go either way for some players.
2 - Poor
Many things are going wrong that it’s hard to recommend, and at times, comprehend. The effort is there, but there are too many weighting the game down that it’s hard to swallow.
1 - Terrible
A complete disaster on a series of levels. A failed product that even struggles to maintain any semblance of fun during its strongest moments.
Reviews before the implementation of the 5 5-ecosystem you see above will remain unchanged.
The Team
Carlos Hernandez
Managing Editor
Woke up one day and decided to talk about anything video games non-stop. Founder of Too Much Gaming and serves as the team's Managing Editor in all types of content you see in TMG.
If he's not answering emails, writing a review, or expressing his thoughts about the latest game he's playing in a podcast, he's most likely streaming his current jam, just like the rest of the kids today.
Would do anything to experience Final Fantasy Tactics for the first time again and has a love/hate relationship with games that make you hunt for new gear over and over to improve your character.
Joseph Choi
Reviews Editor
I am a Filipino-American gamer, professional shepherd and farmer, author, and filmmaker/videographer living in Central California. My first consoles were the Game Boy and Sega Genesis, and I've been gaming since then, with a focus on Nintendo and Sony consoles. My favorite genres include rhythm games, fighting games, racing games, puzzle games, action games, JRPGs, visual novels, and shmups. My favorite games include Super Smash Bros, Melee, Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Final Fantasy VIII, Metal Gear Solid 3, Child of Eden, Diablo II, Tetris Effect, and Ikaruga.
My day job keeps me busy, but I contribute when I can, focusing most of my efforts on editing reviews written by the rest of the staff.

Matthew Arcilla

Matthew Arcilla was abandoned in Virra Mall throughout the early 90s, subsisting on a diet of sugar cane juice, Magoo’s Pizza and DOS games. After successful rehabilitation at the turn of the century, he has since been serving as an editor and writer for various print and online publications.
When not playing videogames, Matthew talks about videogames, writes about videogames, reads about videogames and watches videogames. He currently serves as co-host for Three Point Landing, a pop culture podcast. You can hit him up on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Carl Vincent David
Contributor
From Megaman to Ironman, Carl has been a gamer since the FamiCom came out in the Philippines. He freelances as a writer for TMG and uses up most of his free time gaming, listening to video game music, watching people play games and daydreaming about video games.
Video games, Anime, Mecha, his loving wife and cats are what fuels him to be the man he is today. A lean, mean, video gaming machine!
