Bioshock: Infinite will have no multiplayer, says Ken Levine

Bioshock Infinite Screenshot Can't wait to see Bioshock: Infinite's multiplayer? Don't hold your breath. It is now confirmed that Bioshock: Infinite will not have any form of multiplayer.

Ken Levine, co-founder and creative director over at Irrational Games tweeted that there will be no multiplayer when the game ships early next year. With most triple A titles forcing any form of multiplayer in their games to come out more appealing, its great news to hear that the studio is dumping their remaining resources to the game's campaign. Bioshock is one of those game franchises that is better off without one, not every game needs to have a multiplayer component to be successful. They added multiplayer for Bioshock 2, so it was a possibility that we would see multiplayer for Bioshock: Infinite which made me fear for the worse. Ideas for multiplayer modes were in the air but thankfully nothing came to light. Kotaku reported that two multiplayer modes(One even called "Spec-Ops") was originally planned but was soon cancelled. Good riddance.

It has been a trend lately for big titles. Franchises that succeed and earn a sequel usually comes back with multiplayer to have a more appealing title, even though having such mode doesn't make much sense to the game (for example, Dead Space 2). It's good to see some studios still try to stay away from it and focuses on the single player aspect of the game that made it famous to begin with.

Bioshock: Infinite hits shelves on February 23, 2013 on Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

And just in case you missed out on past daily deals, Steam keeps it up for a few more hours to give some gamers a chance to not miss out.

I might miss out on this one since the Holiday is coming up and Steam will definitely have a Holiday sale just like last year, so I'll save whatever money I have left for that. But you never know, I might just find something interesting during this sale.

Player plays Black Ops 2 for 135 hours straight, setting new world record

The addiction of Call of Duty is crazy. Every year we get a new game, and just like clockwork we see millions of gamers ready to buy it. It's great, it's addicting, it's fun, but would you play the game for 7 days straight? Well, one guy did. Australian gamer Okan Kaya played Black Ops 2 for 135 hours straight setting the new Guinness World Record for longest gaming marathon ever recorded. Don't worry, the guy is fine.

Kaya was given breaks between hours though, so it's not completely 135 hours of eyes on the screen. Guinness rules allows players to take 10 minute break each hour, and may choose to stack and save those 10 minutes for longer breaks to the basics like eat or sleep. This is quite an amazing feat, and at the same time a dangerous one. Everybody loves a good gaming marathon every now and then, but to push your whole body for a whole week is pretty risky if you ask me.

But he succeeded with no harm on him so congratulations on setting the new world record Okan Kaya.

Sadly, with a marathon like that, you'd think he would be at least top 10 in global leaderboards. Apparently not. GameInformer posts that he is currently 37 in the global charts, which means there were still 36 players ahead of Kaya. Did they play just as long as Kaya? maybe not, but they definitely played the hell out of that game nonstop.

Planetside 2 has now gone live!

Sony Online Entertainment's Planetside 2 has now opened its servers to the world. This game offers an FPS experience on a grand scale. We are talking about thousands of players joining three factions, and fighting it out for map control. The game is Free-To-Play and I suggest you start downloading and form ranks! Oh, and you can check out the launch trailer below too.

I've had my time with the game a month ago during the closed beta and it's crazy on how massive this game is. It's battlefield in a whole new level. The game looks amazing, and in regards to how well the shooting is in this game, it's in par with modern triple A shooters out now, which is a surprise since this is a free game.

If you are looking for a game that would really provide you with an all-out war experience, this would be perfect. Head over to Planetside 2's official website to sign-up and start downloading. Friendly warning, this game requires a lot of space to install. See you all on the battlefield!

Diablo 3 - My way to make the game interesting again

In Diablo 3, once you hit level 60 and kill Diablo on inferno difficulty, you are pretty much done with the game, and the endless grind to find better loot to simply kill monsters faster begins. I did the tedious grind and it eventually gets old. I also found myself on the auction house trying to sell my hard-earned loot for gold , or buy better gear for cheap. This was a method I see every time I log in Diablo 3. The Auction House crippled the replay value of this game in a way and I consider it a bad addition since the whole game revolves so much on it. Most of the time, you are simply hunting for any loot that has some value to sell. So I decided to completely remove that aspect from my playthrough that involves me having just one life. See how the game feels.

Yes, I decided to play a hardcore character. A mode that I've always wanted to tackle, and to make it a bit more interesting, I won't be using the Auction house for any reason. for the people unfamiliar to Hardcore mode - Once you die, your character and the gear he/she is wearing will be gone forever. There is no way of getting him back. Initially, I was planning to replay the game in softcore with a monk class( Since I haven't played one) without using the Auction House at all, just to see how the game feels without it. But I find it hard to manage since all my character's gold, storage, and crafting are shared across all characters, so it didn't feel much of a fresh playthrough. Then I noticed a couple of my friends wanted to progress through hardcore, so I decided to do my 'no Auction House' playthrough on hardcore since it's completely separate from softcore.

I got the idea from Kripparrian, a Twitch streamer who got the Diablo 3 world first Diablo kill on hardcore inferno difficulty. Right now, he's attempting to finish inferno on hardcore again with just self found loot. His is a bit extreme since he's only using loot found on the ground and nothing else. For me, I simply want to eliminate the Auction House from the picture.

No purchase or selling from the auction house, that's pretty much the only rule I placed myself and it's turning out to be a lot of fun. It's not as punishing as you think too. The loot found in-game and crafted items I made were just enough to keep me alive until now. I've had a few close calls when we went through act 3 normal (Because we like pumping the Monster Power up every now and then) but it definitely made the game interesting again.

How I'm playing Diablo 3 right now is exactly how it should have been, minus the hardcore. When I first went through the game with friends, we literally had Auction House breaks every now and then to see if we can sell and score new loot. When we all return to progress further, we find ourselves steam rolling the content thanks to our new gear we got from the Auction House.  In the early levels, some players don't really care if its good or not and just want to earn more gold than the amount you get if you sell it in a merchant, so you usually find really good gear for your class at ridiculously low prices.

So far so good, Currently level 33 and doing this is getting me hooked again to Diablo 3. How I'll react when my Monk dies, we'll just have to see when I get there. But that lingering thought that I could die at any moments keeps it exciting, especially now since we are at Nightmare difficulty and lag in this game can definitely kill. It's definitely interesting and hopefully it stays that way all the way to the end. Hardcore inferno Diablo kill? Wishful thinking.
