Assassin's Creed Shadows Delayed to March 2025

Ubisoft has once again delayed Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the next entry in the long-running open-world franchise, to allow more polish and time for developers to make changes based on player feedback.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed to March 20, 2025

The studio working on Shadows released a statement sharing that pushing to a March release would give them time to implement the feedback they received in the last three months.

The delay was also mentioned in a press release from co-founder and CEO Yves Yuillemot, primarily addressing Ubisoft’s current state as a whole.

“We are all behind our teams’ efforts to create the most ambitious Assassin’s Creed opus of the franchise and made the decision to provide an extra month of development to Shadows in order to better incorporate the player feedback gathered over the past three months that will enable us to fully deliver on the potential of the game and finish the year on a strong note.”

The press release also mentioned weak Holiday sales for the company, large cost cuts, the closure of their live service shooter XDefiant, and three Ubisoft studios. This gives more weight to Assassin’s Creed Shadows’s performance in sales and reception as to where Ubisoft will stand for the rest of 2025.

The delay could help Shadows’ chances of success as the last delay was a confusing choice considering that February 2025 is a busy month with highly anticipated titles like Monster Hunter Wilds releasing at the end of that month.
