Dead Island: Ripitide gameplay footage features new mechanics

Dead Island Riptide01 Deep Silver finally reveals actual gameplay footage of the game in a form of a walkthrough, explaining new features added in Riptide. The video explains a new defense mission that requires you to salvage useful items that would help fortify a certain location to fend of hordes of zombies.

The sequel (or spin-off, not too sure)looks and feels the same. That I'm ok with since the whole concept works, what I'm not ok with is the awkward animations from the last game is still present in Riptide. When I saw the player pick up an item as if he was giving a right hook to do so, I noticed right away they didn't change it. I sound a bit picky, but I was really bothered by it in the first game, seeing those weird animations every single time, it was really weird to look at, even the shadow animation showing how your character runs. The small things, I know.

Dead Island Riptide starts off where the first game ended from the looks of it. Nowhere near Banoi, but in the same archipelago. Same characters, same HUD, pretty much the same game.

Did you want a more improved 2013 Dead Island game, or is this simple enough to keep us satisfied? This is the first released video of the game, so let's hope they have more to show because the game comes out on April 23 on Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Dead Island: Riptide CGI trailer

Dead Island: Riptide First teaser trailer for the next Dead Island has finally hit. Just like the first game, they open up with a CGI trailer to start things off. The first ever trailer for the first Dead Island got a lot of attention, it was just that good. For Dead Island: Riptide, they used the same tone, which I'm guessing is to create the same response. Well, I still think the first is still better, but this one is definitely worth watching. Check it out below.

It's either just as good as the first, or one of the most depressing CGI trailer you've ever seen.

Dead Island: Riptide is scheduled for a 2013 release on Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

E3 2012: Dead Island: Riptide announced, already priced

Dead Island: Riptide During E3 2012, Deep Silver released a surprise announcement of a new Dead Island game. Whether you hate it or not, a new game is being developed and its an entirely new game. Aside from it being announced, online retailers have given a legit price point for the game. With no screenshots or any information about Riptide, the game will cost $50.

With the lowered price point, people wondered why that is. Apparently, when asked about the lowered price, a Deep Silver employee confirmed by saying:

“That’s not a placeholder :) that’s the real price! It’s the end of a console cycle- we think this price makes a lot more sense given that :)”

With that said, not only does this confirms the games price point, it also confirms that next generation console are not far away. Sony and Microsoft are obviously not talking about next generation yet, but it's definitely coming and I predict announcements sometime around next year. Nintendo has already kicked off the next generation of consoles with the Wii U. The presentation for the new console is still pretty underwhelming after two E3 presentations about it, but if I remember correctly, Sony didn't have a great start with the reveal of the Playstation 3 too, so we'll see how it all turns out. But from where the Wii U stands at this point, I can honestly say it's still not worth the purchase. Nintendo has yet to impress me.
