/EA and DICE has officially revealed during their livestream reveal that the next Battlefield game will be Battlefield 2042. It will be out this October and we not only get our first trailer but our first batch of details on the multiplayer game.
Battlefield 2042 supports 128-player matches on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. For last gen consoles though, the amount of players can only go as high as 64-players in each match.
According to details from EA, here is a quick overview of the game:

With support for 128 players, Battlefield 2042 brings unprecedented scale on vast battlegrounds across the globe. Players will take on several massive experiences, from updated multiplayer modes like Conquest and Breakthrough to the all-new Hazard Zone.”
Key Features
- Welcome to A World Transformed – U.S.A. and Russia stand at the brink of war. Proxy wars have waged for decades, generating experienced but displaced combat veterans. These Specialists use their skills to shape the future—a future worth fighting for.
- Battle Through Epic, Changing Battlegrounds – Battlefield 2042 introduces seven vast maps for up to 128 players. From Seoul’s cities to Egypt’s deserts, every map offers a unique experience based on the natural environment.
- Employ A Cutting-edge Arsenal – Customize weapons, gadgets and vehicles in-battle to tip the scales in your favor. Summon a robotic dog built for battle, employ a grappling hook or don your very own wingsuit.

The first trailer for Battlefield 2042 just kept on going with all the destruction and absurd stuns that the moment I saw the jet pilot, who was currently in a dog fight with another jet, jumped out of his jet just to shoot the opposing plane with a rocket launcher…and somehow managed to get back into his aircraft unharmed. It’s crazy and unrealistic, and I would like to think this is DICE just having fun with the series.
Then, it ends with a massive tornado just suddenly showing up, engulfing everyone and any vehicle nearby with a one equipped with a wingsuit just ready for such an event. Weather is clearly a big thing for the next Battlefield, but in what way exactly? We’ll have to wait until June 13, 2021 as that’s when we’ll get our first look at actual gameplay of Battlefield 2042.
Battlefield 2042 is coming on October 22, 2021 and will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
