Diablo Immortal Delayed, Will Launch in the Philippines and the Rest of Asia Pacific in July

Blizzard announced that their free-to-play mobile and PC game Diablo Immortal will no longer release in the Philippines and the rest of the Asia Pacific region on June 23 but on July 8. With the delay, the developers aim to improve game optimization and performance on both mobile and PC platforms.

Here is what Blizzard plans to work on during the extra time:

  • Initial build package optimization: Reshuffling the assets downloading sequence so relevant UI would populate properly to improve user experience in-game.

  • Android device performance optimization: The install base of mobile devices in Asia Pacific regions is very diverse. Using learnings from the first phase of our launch, we are performing additional compatibility tests to optimize the launch experience.

  • PC experience improvements: Including fixes to potion and skills lockout issues, Auto-Navigation, Demon Hunter primary attack, Xbox controller input delay, and more.

  • Performance and network optimization: Improvements to deferred multi-lighting particle tech, bug fixes, and more.

Those affected with this delay are the rest of the Asia Pacific regions, such as the Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Vietnam, Macao, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. As compensation for the delay, Blizzard is giving each player in these regions one piece of Legendary Gear, 100 Scrap Materials, and 10 Enchanted Dust.

Hopefully the added time will bear fruit and no other delays will occur as those in the rest of the Asia Pacific have been waiting for the game’s official launch since the free-to-play was released worldwide on June 2.

Diablo Immortal will launch with cross-play and cross-progression between iOS, Android, and PC. Among the countries affected by this delay, Vietnam is the only country that will have just the PC version of the game available when it officially launches.
