PS4 and Xbox One Version of Far Cry 5 Now Provides a 60 FPS Boost on Current-gen Consoles
/Ubisoft announced that those owning Far Cry 5 on consoles can now play the game at 60 fps if running on a PS5 and Xbox Series.
For Xbox players, Xbox Series X gets additional support as they also get enhanced resolution, making the current gen run the game at 4K resolution. In contrast, the Xbox Series S can run it at 1080p resolution.
Since this isn’t a native PS5 release for Far Cry 5, the PS4 version of the game is only capable of running at 1620p when played on the PS5.
It’s a pleasant surprise to what I consider one of the best titles in the series.
In Far Cry 5, players infiltrate rural Hope County, Montana, which is now fully controlled by a doomsday cult under the leadership of Joseph Seed and the rest of the Seed family. You bolster the resistance, gather your companions, and remove the control the cult has on this land one region at a time.
Far Cry 5 Free Weekend is next week
Ubisoft also announced that there is going to be a Far Cry 5 free weekend happening from March 23 to March 27 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC (through Epic Game Store and Ubisoft store). During the free weekend, the game and its DLCs will be heavily discounted, as you pick up the digital copy for as low as 85%.
Just like all free weekends hosted by Ubisoft, any progress you have during the free weekend can be carried over to the full game once you’ve bought yourself a copy.
Far Cry 5 was released way back in 2018.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
