In Less Than 24 Hours, Black Myth: Wukong Becomes the Most Played Single-player Game Ever on Steam
/In less than 24 hours, Black Myth: Wukong, the new action RPG from Chinese developer Game Science, has hit the Steam charts and quickly rose to becoming the most-played single-player game of all time on the platform. As of this writing, Steamdb shows that the game was able to amass a concurrent player count of over 2.2 million players on the Steam platform alone, beating records made by single-player titles such as Cyberpunk and Elden Ring.
Black Myth: Wukong was released on August 20 on PC and the PS5. This is all done on day one.
At this rate, Wukong might even reach the number 1 spot, making it the most-played game on Steam overall. But to reach the top, they will have to surpass the current king which is PUBG: Battlegrounds with an impressive 3.2 million all-time concurrent peak, roughly a million shy as of this writing. I wouldn’t be surprised at this point.
Everything is going well for developer Game Science as Black Myth: Wukong’s reception from critics is most positive as it has a Metacritic score of 82 for the PC version of the game. As for Steam user reviews, it currently sits at ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ with over 7k user reviews.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
