With how visually stunning Final Fantasy XVI looked like on the PS5, it’s surprising to see the PC version show some flexibility in the minimum system requirements category in terms of the GPU suggestion. It’s going to be a tough one as at the minimum you’ll be working with 720p at 30 FPS, which, quite honestly, won’t do the game justice, especially during it’s intense set pieces. There’s also a recommendation to use an SSD as most games struggle without a faster hard disk space, especially with a game like Final Fantasy XVI.
Final Fantasy XVI was first released as a PS5 exclusive in June 2023 and will finally be available on PC on September 17. If you’re wondering how well your rig will run the game, you should consider downloading the demo version now available on Steam as that will be the best benchmark, allowing you to play the first chapters of the game. Its also worth noting that your progress in the demo can be carried over to the full game when it goes live in September.
Final Fantasy XVI PC starts at $50
The other pleasant surprise is that the game will start selling on Steam and Epic Games Store at $50 (PHP 2,490). The kicker here is that this is just for the base game as Square Enix did release two DLC story packs post-launch and if you want to get the full package, the Final Fantasy XVI Complete Edition comes with all DLCs for the full price of $70 (PHP 3,490).
Based on how the DLCs are broken down in Steam, you can buy each DLC separately or buy the expansion pass to get both DLCs in one purchase. Regardless, the base game starting at $50 is a great starting point that I highly recommend it at the base as the DLC packs are content for when you are at the tail-end of the game, so it’s best to consider if you want more from this work after finishing the base game.
When I went through the game last year, it was an easy 5/5 (10/10) if you’re someone who can accept this title’s shift to being more of an action game than the traditional JRPG you’d expect from the Final Fantasy series. It was an action-packed game that killed it as a visual spectacle, with likable characters and satisfying gameplay making it one of my favorite titles released in 2023.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has the potential to be a favorite for fans of the franchise, delivering an authentic Indiana Jones experience with its story and cinematic presentation. While the game shines in its exploration and puzzle elements, the combat and stealth mechanics’ lack of gameplay variety holds it back.
