Mina the Hollower announced by Shovel Knight Devs

Shovel Knight developers Yacht Club Games announced that their next game will be Mina the Hollower, a top down action adventure with an 8-bit aesthetic. The game’s Kickstarter just went live.

The game looks like it’s greatly inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening which was released back in 1993. An 8-bit adventure game with quality of life features you’d expect from a modern game today.

Just like how they started with Shovel Knight, Mina the Hollower will have it’s own run on Kickstarter and will last for 30 days. As of this writing, the campaign is just a few dollars shy from reaching its funding goal of $ 311,503 in just less than 24 hours.

Here’s a quick description of the game from it’s Kickstarter campaign:

“You play as Mina, a whip-wielding Hollower and visionary inventor. She receives a troubling letter from Baron Lionel, her longtime patron and the overseer of Tenebrous Isle. Mina’s advances in Spark Technology brought power to the Isle for the first time many years ago, ushering in newfound prosperity for its citizens. But now, the Spark Generators have gone out, and foul play is suspected.

You will use a myriad of weapons and oddball trinkets to vanquish the monsters thwarting Mina’s objective. Along the way, you’ll unearth the deep, dark secrets concealed beneath the island's newfound prosperity.”

Based on the footage shared so far, the gameplay and even music of Mina the Hollower also emits classic Castlevania vibes as well. With how great Shovel Knight turned out to be in the end, this is definitely a game to keep an eye on (or pledge support) if you’re into the 8-bit approach.

Yacht Club Games have not announced what platforms Mina the Hollower will be available in, there is also no release date given. But based on the Kickstarter campaign Pledge rewards, estimated delivery is in 2023, so that’s a good enough start for a release window.
