Project Pantheon Roadmap Unveils New Features, Content, and Improvements

Wolcen Studio, known for their work on the action RPG Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, has unveiled a new roadmap for what they call their upcoming extrAction RPG, Project Pantheon, alongside the results from its Closed Alpha 1 test earlier this year. With a focus on enhancing gameplay experiences, the studio plans to introduce new features, content, and quality-of-life improvements for Closed Alpha 2, which is set to launch later this spring.

Project Pantheon''s Closed Alpha Roadmap 2025

What's Coming in Closed Alpha 2

Here’s a look at the major features and improvements coming in Project Pantheon’s upcoming Closed Alpha 2:

New Features & Systems

  • Player Sanctuary: The personal hub has evolved into a fully 3D navigable space, allowing players to customize their gear, track achievements, and craft runes. As players progress and gather resources, the Sanctuary will grow and become a core part of the experience.

  • Dodge Roll: A new default gameplay mechanic, allowing players to precisely evade enemy attacks

  • Weapon & Gear Customization: Combat style is now more flexible than ever. Players can now choose which abilities to equip on weapons and armor, allowing for deeper personalization and strategic playstyles.

  • Crafting & Durability: Gear now degrades over time, requiring careful management from players. Runes can be crafted to enhance equipment and repair gear at the Sanctuary to keep it in peak condition.

New Content

  • The Staff – New Weapon - A powerful magical weapon bringing even more variety to combat encounters.

  • Dungeons - New high-risk, high-reward zones have emerged across the map. These areas contain exclusive loot and intense battles that will test even the most skilled players.

  • New Monster Faction - A fresh enemy faction, The Hamförir, has entered the battlefield, increasing the variety of combat encounters and strategic challenges.

  • Gameplay Tutorial - A new structured tutorial now ensures that every player starts with a solid understanding of the game’s core mechanics.

Quality of Life Improvements

  • Improved Movement - Traversal is now more fluid and responsive, with reduced input lag and jitter.

  • Revamped HP System and Shields - Shields have been redesigned and health is now segmented, improving combat clarity and strategy.

  • Better Match Pacing and Map Balance - Loot distribution, enemy placements and player count have been adjusted for a more balanced and engaging experience.

  • Combat Improvements - Abilities now feel more responsive as input lag has been reduced and the first round of balance tweaks will ensure fairer matchups.

  • Bug Fixes - A variety of bugs and inconsistencies have been fixed to ensure a smoother overall experience.

What's Next for Project Pantheon?

Wolcen Studio has outlined its broader alpha testing roadmap:

  • Closed Alpha 2 (Spring 2025): Focused on enhancing combat gameplay and introducing the new features.

  • Closed Alpha 3 (Summer 2025): Will introduce narrative changes and further gameplay refinements.

  • Closed Alpha 4 (Autumn 2025): Will emphasize balancing gameplay, progression, and refining endgame systems.

That’s it for now, as Wolcen Studio hasn’t shared any exact dates yet. However, they plan to reopen registrations and announce the official dates for Closed Alpha 2 very soon.

For those unfamiliar with Project Pantheon, it’s an action RPG with extraction elements similar to Escape From Tarkov. The core concept revolves around PvPvE gameplay — you head into dangerous zones, gather loot, and attempt to extract without dying. If you die, you lose everything you’ve gathered, including your gear.

So far, the studio hasn’t publicly shared any full gameplay footage, leaving those in the Closed Alpha as the only ones with a real sense of how the game flows. It’ll be interesting to see if future Closed Alphas will allow players to share gameplay impressions. For now, we’ll have to wait for more official reveals.
