/Sega details the new Trooper card abilities and its Squad selection system for Like a Dragon Ishin! As there’s a variety of different cards that can be used in order to get an edge in a fight.
Trooper Cards in Like a Dragon Ishin!
As you play the game, Ryoma meets new members and gains allies, and they help out through the Trooper Card system, a new addition in this remake.
These cards are attached to each of Ryoma’s fighting styles as you can have a loadout of up to four Troopers in each style. This of them as abilities Ryoma can use as there are cards that deal damage, apply buffs, or restore health. Cards are divided into categories based on what they provide in battle, so you can edit your deck based on what you need for your preferred style.
Sega provided a few examples of the Trooper cards available in the game.
Ishioda Denji – Essence of the Dimensional Blade
Compresses heat into a blade and then unleashes it in a spinning area-of-effect (AoE) attack that damages nearby enemies.
Ryudo Rikiya – Essence of Explosive Impact
This fierce technique explodes Heat around Ryoma, burning nearby foes while knocking them down. It's a good way to create space when surrounded by many enemies.
Toranosuke – Essence of the Sovereign Tiger
A powerful move that sets a ferocious tiger pouncing on the enemy, which damages them with its sharp fangs and flings them far away.
Like a Dragon Ishin! Will also feature free special guest Trooper cards for free when the game launches this month. Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku first started by announcing wrestler Kenny Omega and actor Rahul Kohli as having their own Trooper card in the game. Since then, they announce that Twitch streamer Cohh Carnage, musical content creator Alex Mouukala, and cosplayer CampyBitMe are all getting their own Trooper cards added as well.
These special cards will be available for all players when the game launches on February 21, 2023 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
