E3 2013: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Trailer

wind_waker_HD_01An HD rerelease of one of the best looking Zelda games is coming out on the Wii U. While not technically a new game, if you missed out on The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker then this is the best time to experience it. In all of it's widescreen HD glory. Widescreen support, refined textures for the HD upscale and all the anti-aliasing. But graphical improvements are obvious for HD rereleases. This is a little more than just a simple HD port though as there have been some gameplay improvements added. Iwata only talked about one during the Nintendo Direct stream and that is the Tingle Tuner. On the Gamecube, the Tingle Tuner works with the Gameboy Advance to send messages to friends or have them support you by using Tingle to drop items in game. In the Wii U version, the item has been replaced with the Tingle Bottle which lets you send messages to the Miiverse by having Link put the message in the Tingle Bottle and have him throw it to the sea to let it wash up on shores of other players. You can also share screenshots that you can take to help other players in case they need help or a guide.

Another new feature that was shown, but not mentioned, was the ability to boost the wind speed of your boat. I never really had a problem with the old boat speed as I found exploring the whole sea chart quite fun but this is definitely a good feature that I know some people have wanted since the original Gamecube release.

I'm glad they kept the celshaded look much like how it originally was. When screenshots of Wind Waker HD first came out, they opted for a more modern shader which I thought took out a charm of Wind Waker's unique art style. But who knows, maybe it's a shader option you can toggle in the menus.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD comes out in October of this year. Get it.

E3 2013: Bayonetta 2 Wii U Trailer

Bayonetta_2_01 Here's another reason why 2014 is Migoy's year for getting a Wii U. The sequel to one of my favorite action games gets a real trailer.

Bayonetta's new look in Bayonetta 2 has been revealed. Rockin' dat short hair that I love along with new climax finishing moves and equally insane and over the top action has me pumped for Nintendo's new console. Jean with the King of Fighters look is a bit off putting though but that won't stop me from rewatching this trailer 100 times more.

If you're not liking the short hair, I'm sure there will be a ton of extra costumes to tickle your fancy.

E3 2013: Super Smash Bros 3DS and Wii U

super smash bros 3ds wiiuJust like they said, a new Super Smash Bros. game has been revealed for both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

At first glance it looks pretty much the same as Super Smash Bros. Brawl, graphics wise, if not cleaner. I expected the 3DS graphics to look a little better but if the gameplay is equally awesome then I won't be complaining.

Enough about the formalities. Aside from the announcement of a new Super Smash Bros. itself, the next most important detail about this announcement are the new characters. The Villager from Animal Crossing is now a playable character. So that's cool.

Psyche! A new guest character has been revealed for the new Super Smash Bros. and that character is the blue super fighting robot, Mega Man! Seriously, I shouted out loud here in my apartment that I think even the neighbors freaked out a little. My favorite video game character in the new installment of my favorite video game series. I'm just so happy right now.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U is set to come out in 2014 which is perfect since all my money will probably go to new video games or possibly a PS4 this holiday season. Maybe even both.

E3 2013: Final Fantasy XV Trailer with English Subtitles (formerly known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII)

Final-Fantasy-XV If you've been following Final Fantasy Versus XIII, you'd know of it's shaky development cycle. With Tetsuya Nomura halting development on this to work on other games like Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance and Final Fantasy XIII-2, months and months pass where we get no update about Final Fantasy Versus XIII leading many to believe that the game was just outright cancelled.

That is not the case as Square Enix announced during Sony's E3 press conference that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is back and under a new name, Final Fantasy XV. Shown with a significant amount of gameplay and now running on the PS4, we're all glad that this game isn't dead.

Final Fantasy XV will be released on PS4, PC and Xbox One. Are your bodies ready?
