E3 2013: Super Smash Bros 3DS and Wii U

super smash bros 3ds wiiuJust like they said, a new Super Smash Bros. game has been revealed for both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

At first glance it looks pretty much the same as Super Smash Bros. Brawl, graphics wise, if not cleaner. I expected the 3DS graphics to look a little better but if the gameplay is equally awesome then I won't be complaining.

Enough about the formalities. Aside from the announcement of a new Super Smash Bros. itself, the next most important detail about this announcement are the new characters. The Villager from Animal Crossing is now a playable character. So that's cool.

Psyche! A new guest character has been revealed for the new Super Smash Bros. and that character is the blue super fighting robot, Mega Man! Seriously, I shouted out loud here in my apartment that I think even the neighbors freaked out a little. My favorite video game character in the new installment of my favorite video game series. I'm just so happy right now.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U is set to come out in 2014 which is perfect since all my money will probably go to new video games or possibly a PS4 this holiday season. Maybe even both.

New Super Smash Bros. Trailer Confirmed for E3 2013

Super-Smash-Bros-Melee

Masahiro Sakurai tweeted that a trailer for a new Super Smash Bros. will be shown during Nintendo's E3 Nintendo Direct. During which Nintendo also sent confirmation to Official Nintendo Magazine that there will be two versions of the game, one for the Wii U and one for the 3DS.

This is big news, especially for me, since Super Smash Bros. Melee was the reason that I chose a GameCube over a PS2 back in the day and Super Smash Bros. Brawl being the main reason why I got a Wii. I spent over 800 hours in Melee and enjoyed Brawl quite a bit. I've been looking for a solid reason to even consider getting either a 3DS or a Wii U. So far, the games I want for those both platforms are Project x Zone for the 3DS and Bayonetta 2 for the Wii U. This new Super Smash Bros. might just seal the deal.

Sonic Lost Worlds Debut Trailer

Sonic Lost WorldsSega has got a new Sonic game lined up but this time it's exclusive to Nintendo. Namely the Wii U and 3DS.

You see a group of what looks like late 90s Saturday morning cartoon monsters terrorizing some Loony Toons looking chickens when Sonic appears out of the sky to save them. From the gameplay, Sonic Lost Worlds looks like it follow the formula of 2D segments mixed with 3D segments much like in Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations. That and the stage shown in the game looks to be inspired by the unreleased Sonic Xtreme with it's broken up, blocky and tube like tracks. Hey, they might include a fish-eye lens view in the options menu. And since this is going to be a Nintendo exclusive, we might see Mario as a playable character?

New Zelda Game for 3DS

Zelda 3DS 01 So this is exciting news. Nintendo just revealed a new The Legend of Zelda game for the 3DS.

This new game does not have a full title yet but it will take place in the same world as The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The 3D effect will come in as Link can literally traverse to new heights in areas via platforms that can launch him into the air.

Zelda 3DS 02Aside from the whole springing Link up to higher platforms, he has a new ability. Link can now become a 2D wall drawing and slide across to reach areas that he is unable to access via normal means.

Zelda 3DS 03A Link to the Past was the first Zelda game that I played and I think that that game holds up to this day. Revisiting that world in 3D is just hitting all the right nostalgia parts on me. And the best part about this? The game will come out in the holiday season of this year!
