E3 2013: Why PS4 is Only $399

ps4-undercuts-xboxoneOne of the last few things that was announced at the end of the Sony press conference was the price of the console. While Microsoft priced the Xbox One at $499, Sony priced the PS4 at a significantly lower $399. As expected, there's a reason for that. Much like with their releases of the various versions of PS3, they would announce the price of the cheapest PS4 set and would also release more expensive kits with usually a bigger hard drive and maybe a game or two.

ps4-specsheet

This looks to be the case with the PS4. But that's not all. Much like the Xbox One and it's emphasis on the Kinect, the PS4 will also work in tandem with a new PlayStation Camera. Since the PS Move has been integrated into the new controllers themselves, you'd think the camera would be a requirement. The Xbox One requires the Kinect to be connected at all times but the $399 PS4 will not include the camera which leads me to believe that it is not required to run the system. As to how important of a role the camera will play in the long run of the PS4's lifespan, at least we have the option. The $399 PS4 will also be rocking a 500GB HDD which is said to be upgradable. It will also come with a mono headset and a HDMI cable which is nice. The Camera will be available at launch for $59.

Here is the full spec sheet of the PS4 if you want to check it out.

E3 2013: New Mirror's Edge announced

ME_Wallpaper_16x9_1920x1080_02_47313_screen EA's been keeping DICE busy. Not only are they working on Star Wars: Battlefront and Battlefield 4, they are currently working on what it looks to be a reboot of Mirror's Edge. A teaser trailer was shown during their press conference showing in-game footage. Have a look.

The free running FPS game was a breath of fresh air in a genre filled with a gun in hand back in 2008. Sadly, there was no follow-up for years. But now it looks like EA is ready to make another and based on the video; it will be released when it's ready. Funny how that phrase can affect a game's hype.

The new Mirror's Edge will be on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

E3 2013: Dragon Age: Inquisition announced

Not much details yet, but it's confirmed to be released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC in 2014.

The Law Of The Jungle -- Destiny Official Trailer

Destiny-Law-of-Jungle-PV Bungie released a new trailer for their upcoming online FPS called Destiny. It's a mix of CG and live-action featuring Giancarlo Esposito(Breaking Bad, Revolution).

Destiny does look interesting at this point, but its hard to gauge if this would bring something new to the table. After Bungie finishing Halo: Reach, they were absent for years working on Destiny, and with them getting a year-long deal with Activision(I'm guessing for a Destiny franchise), this feels like an ambitious project that could be a make or break for Bungie.

At the end of the video, gameplay footage will debut on Sony's press conference, so if you're curious to how Destiny plays, tune in at this year's E3 on June 10.

Destiny will be released hopefully at the end of this year or early 2014 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One

New Watch Dogs trailer reveals release date

WatchDog_hero Ubisoft's newest IP, Watch Dogs, now has a released date. Hacking will commence on November 22, 2013 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, and most likely the new Xbox Microsoft is planning to reveal this May.

Watch Dogs is an open world adventure game that revolves around the players ability to use any electronic device to their advantage. Be it security cameras, people's ATM's, their phones, even fuse boxes, all can be hacked by a press of a button...so they say.

Collector's Edition

WatchDogs_collectors_thumb

The collector's edition for Watch Dog's is the Dedsec Edition which contains the usual amount of loot you'd expect from such package, you know, big figurines and all. The special edition includes:

-A 23cm Aiden Pearce Figurine -Steelbook -DedSec Collector box -Watch_Dogs Artbook: artworks and illustrations that inspired the game -Original soundtrack of the game -Watch_Dogs map of Chicago -Set of 4 collectible cards: discover Watch_Dogs iconic characters through augmented reality -Set of 3 exclusive badges

Of course, with how the Philippines work, there won't be any confirmation at this point if local retail will accept any pre-orders for the Dedsec Edition/ Information will most likely come a month before release, so look out for that.

I'm considering Watch Dogs as the first ever revealed, and possibly released next-gen title from a third-party publisher and developer. The game does look amazing, but the big question is how big of a difference will the version running on current-gen systems like the PS3 is to the version running on the PlayStation 4, the next Xbox, and Wii U?
