E3 2013: The Order: 1886 Reveal Trailer

The-Order-1886-01 The folks over at Ready At Dawn studios and Sony Santay Monica is finally working on a new IP.

If you don't know who Ready At Dawn are, they were the studio behind the Wii port of Okami and the two God of War games on the PSP and SCE (Sony Computer Entertainment) Santa Monica handled the console entries for God of War. Now they're working on a new IP called The Order: 1886 which looks to be what I can describe as a steampunk old style London mixed with some Van Helsing and Japanese anime guns.

The-Order-1886-02The trailer revealed did not show a shred of gameplay but I am guessing and hoping that this is a Third-Person shooter that has an emphasis on action and less cover. While the trailer does not show actual gameplay, the cinematics were said to done using in-game graphics rendered in real time. Not much else is known about the game but since it's the season for video game news, I'm sure we'll get an update soon.

The Order: 1886 will be a PS4 exclusive. Hopefully this will be one of those games that helps carry the console.

E3 2013: Rain Trailer

rain_ps3_01Shown during the Sony press conference, Rain is about an invisible world revealed the falling rain. Developed by Sony Computer Entertainment, you follow the story of a young boy and girl as they search for answers and try to escape the evil that is also hidden in the rain. rain_ps3_02I know what you're all thinking. This looks so much like Ico which is a good thing. From the camera angles, the young boy and girl, the silent mystery and what looks to be a darker theme than most games makes me very excited for this.

The game is set to launch in fall of 2013 on both the PS3 and PSVita.

E3 2013: Why PS4 is Only $399

ps4-undercuts-xboxoneOne of the last few things that was announced at the end of the Sony press conference was the price of the console. While Microsoft priced the Xbox One at $499, Sony priced the PS4 at a significantly lower $399. As expected, there's a reason for that. Much like with their releases of the various versions of PS3, they would announce the price of the cheapest PS4 set and would also release more expensive kits with usually a bigger hard drive and maybe a game or two.

ps4-specsheet

This looks to be the case with the PS4. But that's not all. Much like the Xbox One and it's emphasis on the Kinect, the PS4 will also work in tandem with a new PlayStation Camera. Since the PS Move has been integrated into the new controllers themselves, you'd think the camera would be a requirement. The Xbox One requires the Kinect to be connected at all times but the $399 PS4 will not include the camera which leads me to believe that it is not required to run the system. As to how important of a role the camera will play in the long run of the PS4's lifespan, at least we have the option. The $399 PS4 will also be rocking a 500GB HDD which is said to be upgradable. It will also come with a mono headset and a HDMI cable which is nice. The Camera will be available at launch for $59.

Here is the full spec sheet of the PS4 if you want to check it out.
