Witcher Data Is Being Fed Into AI To Make Fake Triss and Yennefer Porn
/You might have missed it, but last week Motherboard reported on a redditor who has been using a machine learning algorithm to create stunning total transference of celebrity faces over the faces in porn videos.
Now known as "deepfakes," the results can be convincing, as are some examples featuring the likenesses of Daisy Ridley and Jessica Alba. Other applications have been to replicate and improve upon the digital Carrie Fisher came in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Some results are horrifying though, as a consequence of occasional algorithminc slips.
In any case, all it takes is a PC, some high quality visual data and some publicly available software to produce believable footage via face swap. The implications are both wonderful and terrifying, as anyone can now be subject to digital impersonation while it also means CGI doubles can be a lot cheaper and less time consuming to make.
So what does this have to do with The Witcher? Well the popular ladies have had their faces, uncanny valleys and all, grafted onto porn, creating some kind of extra-dimensional cosplay kink smut. The deepfakes subreddit now features Triss Merigold and Yennefer of Vengerberg as two of many new "stars" of machine-generated porn.
Using footage from The Witcher 3, Triss' digital face was pulled and slapped onto a porn actress dressed like the character. One would think the cosplayer's face would be a reasonable approximation, but according to the redditor, despite the fact that it "turned out pretty good," the training data was not ideal.
Yennefer gets the same treatment. It works better than the deepfaked Triss since the performer -- a porn star named Ashley Anderson -- has a vague resemblance to Yennefer. But because videogame faces don't actually behave realistically, there's still a layer of the uncanny. Still, the result works, so long as you account for the inhuman factor.
I suspect the majority of those messing around with deepfakes on the subreddit are straight men, otherwise there'd be fewer ScarJo and maybe several pages of Geralt porn too. Bring on the Geralt deepfake monstrosities, I say. It's only fair.
