/Dead by Daylight’s next Shrine of Secrets before the New Lunar celebration event this year offers the perks Object of Obsession, Appraisal, Coulrophobia, and Dead Man’s Switch. Here’s a quick detailed rundown of each of the perks offered from January 18 - January 24, 2023.
Dead by Daylight Shrine of Secrets perks for January 18 - January 24, 2023
This section found in the in-game store of Dead by Daylight gives players the chance to unlock perks from Survivors or Killers still unavailable for them, or have not yet earned the highest tier.
To unlock a perk through the Shine of Secrets, you’ll need to spend Iridescent Shards per perk. Tier 1 perks can cost 2,000 shards.
Here’s the description of each perk.
Killer Perks
Coulrophobia (The Clown) - All Survivors within your Terror Radius will have a reduction to healing speeds by 30/40/50%, and the rotation speed of healing checks are increased by 50%.
Dead Man’s Switch (The Deathslinger) - After hooking a Survivor, Dead Man’s Switch activates for the next 20/25/30 seconds.
While activated, any Survivor that stops repairing a Generator before it’s fully repaired will cause the Entity to block that Generator until Dead Man’s Switch effect ends.
Affected Generators are highlighted in a white Aura.
Survivor Perks
Object of Obsession (Laurie Stode) - Whenever the Killer reads your Aura and for the same duration as they do so, Object of Obsession activates. While active, you can see the Killer’s Aura and action speeds of repairing, healing, and, cleansing is increased by 2/4/6%.
If you are the Obsession, your Aura will be revealed to the Killer for 3 seconds every 30 seconds. The likelihood of you being the Obsession at the start of the match is increased by 100%.
Appraisal (Élodie Rakoto) - This perk starts the Trial with 3 tokens. You can interact with an opened chest and consume 1 Token to search for another item. Rummage through a chest will be 40/60/80% faster.
Which perks are worth getting this week?
This week’s perk offering is pretty okay for Killers, but it’s a different story if you prefer playing Survivors.
Killers will have fun with the perks this week as Coulrophobia is a handle perk to have if you want to create a build that benefits from having a bigger terror radius and affecting Survivor healing speeds. Players that love playing Killers like Wesker, Legion, Doctor, or anybody that can or has a bigger Terror Radius should have a blast with this perk.
Dead Man’s Switch is also a nice choice for applying a bit of pressure to Generator repairing. It’s not Eruption, but it can definitely give you a few seconds to control a key Generator and give you vital information during a Trial.
As for Survivors, Object of Obsession is more damaging that useful in it’s current state. If you want to get the Killers attention this perk will definitely give you that, but standing out in the open for the killer to see you is just as effective, so it feels like a waste of perk space more than anything.
Appraisal isn’t that bad actually as this puts more items in play during the match. More options are better than nothing at all and if you do need a Med-Kit or maybe a flashlight to save a Survivor, you might just get it. The only problem is that using Appraisal is random, so you might get an item like a Key, wasting all that time that could have been spent repairing a Generator.
Dead by Daylight’s Shrine of Secrets reset every Wednesday at 12 AM UTC / 8 AM GMT +8.
Behavior Interactive announced that the 2023r Moonlight Burrow in-game event will go live starting January 24 and will last until February 7, 2023.
