Marvel Snap Introduces Snap Packs: A New Way to Build Your Collection

In the reveal of the April 2025 season, Second Dinner also announced Snap Packs, a new system replacing the old system of acquiring new cards for new and returning players not actively playing the game.

What Are Snap Packs?

Snap Packs will be Marvel Snap players primary way of earning new cards and is said to be faster than the current system as each Snap Pack guarantees 1 unowned card with no duplicates and additional bonus rewards. These Snap Packs have different variations as players can opt to get Snap Packs containing Series 5, Series 4, and so on.

It’s a complete overhaul of the game’s Token Shop, transforming it into a full-fledged Card Shop with new features:

  • Snap Packs – Guarantees one unowned card (no duplicates) plus two bonus rewards, which can include additional cards, variants, cosmetics, or in-game currencies.

  • Spotlight and Pinnable Cards – Spotlight Caches still exist, offering rotating cards.

  • Free Daily Tokens – Log in every day to claim Tokens.

  • Token Packs – Purchase Tokens directly using Gold.

Why Change the Current System?

Right now, collecting specific cards in Marvel SNAP can feel slow and frustrating. Earning Spotlight Keys is a grind in itself, and using them to open Spotlight Caches to get new cards for the season in never a guarantee as the reward pool for these boxes contains variant cards of cards you already owned, unowned cards, and worst of all, a duplicate of a card you already own. I’ve burned four Spotlight Keys and didn’t earn the card I wanted or even a new card, so it can be painful. Calling the current system frustrating is an understatement.

This system looks promising as it could benefit new and returning players as it’s already a frustrating grind for even the most active players.

Rather than relying on random drops, Snap Packs give you a choice. At launch, five different types of packs will be available:

  • New Series 5 Packs – Includes all Series 5 cards from the current and previous season, updated weekly.

  • New Series 4 Packs – Includes all Series 4 cards from the current and two previous seasons, updated each season.

  • Collector’s Packs – Separate packs for Series 3, 4, and 5, ensuring you can target older cards.

This new system gives players more control on what they earn from their hard-earned resources. At least on paper, we’ll see how it plays out when it launches.

If players want to catch up faster, the game will also feature Token Packs which allows players to buy Tokens with Gold and unlock cards without waiting for rotations.

If you have Spotlight Cache Keys saved up when the new system goes live, they will all be converted to Tokens, which can then be used to buy Snap Packs. Tokens will replace Spotlight Cache Keys in the collection tree, but they haven’t specified how much you’ll earn each time you reach that point in the progression tree.

Snap Packs will launch either on April 29 or on the planned June 3 patch, but the release date might change depending on future tests for the new system.
