Destiny 2 Lightfall Expansion Revealed
/Destiny 2's next expansion called Lightfall, which is planned for release next year, was revealed during the Destiny 2 showcase showing the new location Neomuna found in Neptune and the new dark subclass called Strand.
Guardians are going to Neptune in the Destiny 2 Lightfall expansion
This expansion is said to conclude the light versus dark arc that has started since the beginning of Destiny 2 as we now have the Guardians facing Calus’ heavily upgraded Cabal army and what is considered the game’s biggest villain, The Witness.
Through the Lightfall campaign, Guardians will eventually gain access to a new dark power called Strand and developers consider this as an entirely new source of power that players and the characters within Destiny 2 will have to figure it out on the fly. This new subclass will have all three classes of Destiny 2 gain access to a grappling hook as it will be used to traverse the new location, which is a place we have not seen in the world of Destiny 2.
Neomura, a city in Neptune that apparently was able to hide itself from all the events of Destiny 2 until this point, is a vibrant cyberpunk world that has not collapsed but survived all this time. Sadly, peace didn’t last for those residing in Neomuna as the city has become the battleground for the final chapter in Destiny 2’s current story.
Bungie also shared that this expansion will introduce new features for the game as they plan to make Destiny 2 more accessible when Lightfall goes live. Guardian ranks is a new system that serves as a guide for new players through all the content available while allowing players to easily distinguish who are experienced players and who are just starting out. It will then support a new built-in looking for group system that will make players have an easier time find other players to tackle any kind of content in the game.
Another feature that is considered one of the most requested ones for years is in-game loadouts, which gives players the option to quickly swap gears instantly, making it easier to transition from one build to the next. Hopefully this reduces the amount of time spent on The Tower.
Destiny 2: Lightfall is still months away from release as it’s set to launch on February 28, 2023. For now, we have Season of Plunder, the new season that just went live and will be around until December 8, 2022.
