Fallen Tear: Ascension Kickstarter Officially Launches on August 27

Philippine-based studio CMD Studios announced that they are officially launching the Kickstarter campaign for their 2D Metroidvania action game Fallen Tear: Ascension on August 27.

You can check out the Kickstarter page here. As of this writing, the full details of the total goal of the campaign, its stretch goals, and a breakdown of what this campaign will provide in the development of the game have not been revealed.

It was also announced that those willing to support the campaign can get a 20% discount in the first 24 hours of the campaign.

The Kickstarter campaign will officially go live at 10:00 PM GMT +8 on August 27.

From what we saw when the game was showcased in an ID@Xbox virtual session, it is shaping rather well as it aims to release sometime in 2025. Xbox is providing support for this homegrown project as this is the studio’s first attempt at funding its own title. The developers consider Fallen Tear a fusion of JRPG elements with Metroidvania elements, with a large map containing a variety of enemy types, biomes, and various skills to unlock.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what to expect from Fallen Tear: Ascension

  • Each graphic element, animated sprite, and music note has been lovingly hand-crafted to ensure the best audiovisual experience.

  • Over 150 enemies and epic bosses to combat.

  • 26 interactable biomes (Silent Spring, Lilac Mire, Godspire Ruins, and more)

  • 22 Fates Bonds, each with its own unique abilities, storylines, and quests.

  • Different combat and skill trees to unlock (Elemental Imbuements, Ascension skills, and more)

  • Take a break from saving the world with Monster hunts and minigames.

  • The game’s intended length: on average = 20 - 40 hours
