Ghost Recon Breakpoint: How to find Standard Weapon Parts at higher levels
/Ghost Recon Breakpoint is out and people are exploring Aurora as we speak. We’ve been at it as well, and even wrote what we thought about the game 10 hours in. But as we go through the game’s higher levels we noticed that Standard Weapon Parts — a crafting item you receive when deconstructing gray weapons — is hard to find since loot boxes and enemies no longer drop gray weapons.
Once a player goes over level 15 or even past Gear Score 100, they will experience only green weapons and above dropping from enemies and crates. That makes Standard Weapon Parts a rare crafting item since it seems to only drop from specific enemies at later levels.
Why do we need Standard Weapon Parts anyways?
Ghost Recon Breakpoint features a weapon upgrade system that allows players to upgrade their weapons from mk.1 up to mk.3. Each stat upgrade in a tier will require specific crafting items to unlock each one, and once you’ve unlocked every upgrade in the weapon’s tier, it moves to the next tier and adds a new passive bonus to the weapon. To move from mk.1 to mk.2 though, you need Standard Weapon Parts to upgrade.
It’s weird, we know. Ubisoft might address this in the future but for now, it looks like you need to go out of your way and hunt this common but rare crafting material to get the most out of your guns.
So, where do you find this common but rare material? Here’s what we know so far.
Standard Weapon Parts drop from flying drones
The best way to get them is now from those annoying flying drones that are hard to hit once they’re alerted. It’s not a sure drop since it has other crafting materials in its drop pool but with enough of them down, you’ll eventually get some to drop.
You can find these flying drones in Murmur Patrol Areas, which require a Gear Score of 100+. If you are at a point that you’re having trouble finding Standard Weapon Parts, the level requirement shouldn’t be a problem.
Murmur Patrol areas are filled with drones and can be found in different parts of Aurora, but the one area we suggest you go to farm for Standard Weapon Parts is Egg Island, an island southeast off Aurora.
Egg Island has three Murmur Patrol areas, making it a small island infested with different drones, especially the ones you need.
If you don’t have the Bivouac camp unlocked, just take a chopper ride to the island and land at the Bivouac camp and start hunting.
