Hunt: Showdown’s Long-Awaited Game Engine Upgrade Is Coming in August 2024
/Crytek has revealed that the long-awaited visual upgrade to their online shooter Hunt: Showdown will launch on August 15, 2024. This is a major update that not only comes with a visual upgrade of the game engine to CryEngine version 5.11, but a new map, new improvements to the game’s UI/UX design, and a new event.
PS4 and Xbox One support ends once game engine upgrades goes live
The game engine update also means the end of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One console support as once the game is updated, you will no longer be able to play the game on those systems. Crytek does state that “Hunt: Showdown and all related DLC will carry up to the new version at no additional cost”, so don’t expect the need to buy the game and its DLCs again to current-gen consoles if you choose to make the hardware transition.
More teasers, weekly video teasers, and more in the future
This update from the developers serves as the start of a weekly video series and other online content covering various teasers, updates, and topics about what’s coming to Hunt: Showdown. In the first video, which consists of the upgrade date announcement and what to expect, they give a glimpse into how they plan to communicate upcoming updates and what to expect in the near future leading up to the CryEngine 5.11 upgrade.
The video above also says to look out for future update from their fair play team as they will be updating the community on future steps to combat cheaters, exploits, and toxic interactions within the game. They do mention that they plan to deliver a more effective method to report offenders in this field.
They also highlighted that they will soon show a new UI/UX interface and changes/improvements to their recruitment and Presige systems. They also express transparency by detailing the developer’s design vision when showing these changes to the game in the future as it looks like they will be tackling hunter revival, health chunks, restorations, the act of burning downed Hunters and reducing situations that result in stalemates.
The video ends by stating that the next event will launch on August 15, the same day the engine upgrade and the new map biome goes live.
Simply put, it’s going to be a slow burn from now to August 15 as they slowly show what Crytek has been going to further upgrade and improve Hunt: Showdown.
This will be music to the ears of kids who grew up on the series, but for the uninitiated, there’s nothing quite like the Mario & Luigi games. Mario & Luigi Brothership does its best to appeal to a wide range of players with charming presentation and a strong new Battle Plug system, but not everyone will be enamored with its reflex-testing gameplay.
