Online Multiplayer Pac-Man 99 Is Now Officially Shut Down
/The online battle royal game Pac-Man 99 for Nintendo Switch Online is now officially offline permanently. Nintendo informed players back in May 2023 that they were shutting down the servers for the game and they did exactly that. Only those who own DLC packs containing offline modes will be able to play the game they paid for.
They started the shutdown process by delisting the option to buy custom themes in August 8, and then they removed the option to buy the Pac-Man 99 Deluxe Pack or the Pac-Man 99 Mode unlock DLC on September 8. On October 8, they officially brought the main game offline, effectively ending the game’s online services.
Pac-Man 99 was added to Switch Online Service back in April 2021, pretty much replacing Super Mario Bros 35 that went offline a week before its release.
Now, Pac-Man 99 has gone offline and was technically replaced by F-Zero 99, a battle royale racing game based on the original SNES version of the F-Zero game but only this time 99 players race to see who will make it to the finish line alive.
Nintendo has been providing these battle royale games based on classic games for free for their Nintendo Switch Online subscribers as they started with Tetris 99, which launched on the eShop in February 2019. Thankfully, Tetris 99 is still going strong and there are currently no plans to bring that game offline at the moment.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
