Resident Evil 4 Remake Removes QTEs, Will Have Side Quests
/Capcom provided more information when they talked to Game Informer in their new cover story featuring the upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake, as they revealed that this version of the game will not have quick time events, will now have side quests, and more significant changes.
It’s a rather interesting read as it seems like they’ve retained the overall story based on the chapters Game Informer was able to play. Only difference is that there weren't any quick-time events this time around requiring you to hold the controller just in case a prompt shows up as a scene plays out.
Another big change is that the remake will feature side quests, activities that will task you to do specific tasks such as solve a puzzle or take out a specific enemy. Speaking of enemies, the remake will feature new enemies, and one of them shown in this story is a man wearing a cow’s head and wielding a giant hammer.
The story also pointed out how the game has a new crossbow weapon, and that Leon can carry multiple knives as this time around knives break after multiple uses. They also mentioned Yellow Herbs being in the game as well as a Laser Sight upgrade of some sort.
Another revelation to this remake is how Ashley works as a companion this time around. She will not have a life bar but with enough damage will be brought to a “down state”, and if not revived by leon, can be killed if attacked again while in this state. This removes the decision of whether to spend resources such as healing items on her or not.
A button press is also assigned to issue Ashley commands to either make her stay or follow you. It was also mentioned that Ashley can no longer hide in dumpsters.
This alone provides a good amount if insight to the Resident Evil 4 remake which is slated to release on March 24, 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
