Ever wondered how Borderlands would be like back in the 16-bit days? Well people at Gearbox wondered about the same thing. To further promote Borderlands 2, Gearbox released a Free-To-Play 16-bit browser-based version of the first game for us to enjoy.
It's definitely a unique way to market the game, and to be honest this 16-bit version isn't too bad. It's an overhead, arcade-style shooter. You still level up and you open up chests to pick up new guns with unique properties.
Borderlands 2 has gone golden, which means that the game is complete. Mass production has started and Gearbox devs are currently working on future content(DLC).

Borderlands 2 hit stores on September 21 for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
Guild Wars 2 is almost here. The game is only days away and I can't wait to start playing. I've pre-purchased the game, downloaded and updated the client. All that's left to do is stock up the fridge and wait for the servers to go live. To celebrate Guild Wars 2's launch, here are five videos that pretty much explain each core feature that makes Guild Wars 2. Just in case you're wondering what this game is all about.
Personal Story
Dynamic Events
Active Combat
Player vs Player
World vs World
Guild Wars 2 is the MMORPG that will set the bar higher for future MMO's. I participated on the third and final beta weekend and it's definitely not going to disappoint. I'll be playing under the name QuashTMG on the server Isle of Janthir. With what I experienced during the beta weekend, I decided to go with a Charr Engineer as my main character. The kit and toolbelt system got to me and wielding dual pistols are just too cool for me.
Guild Wars 2 will be out on Aug 28, 2012, but for players that have already pre-purchased the game online, they(me) get a 3 day head start(Aug 25).
It's not too late though. You can still pre-purchase the game to get that 3 day headstart. Just head over here and get yourself a copy.
If you live in the Philippines, Datablitz is now offering pre-orders for Guild Wars 2.
Blizzard knows that there's an endgame issue. Once you hit level 60 and finished the game in Inferno difficulty, the only thing left to do is get better gear to kill monsters faster. That's not enough incentive anymore, especially with the horrible drop rates. To fix this, Blizzard is introducing the Paragon System, a level system that kicks in when you hit level 60. Let the D2 grinding begin!
When you hit level 60, all experience you gained goes to your Paragon level. There are a total of 100 Paragon levels and as you level, your base stats increases just like a normal level up. You also gain 3% Magic Find and 3% Gold Find per Paragon level. Adding Magic Find and Gold Find to each Paragon level is their way of addressing the magic find issue. Swapping magic find gear before an elite dies is a very tedious strategy and not so fun to begin with. Magic Find and Gold Find will cap at 300%. Meaning, if you hit Paragon Level 100, there will be no need of wearing Magic Find gear.
To support the new system, Nephalem Valor stacks will now also provide 15% experience gained per stack. Also, After 10 levels of Paragon, your character's portrait changes to show other players at what Paragon level your character is in.
It seems like they are trying to provide the same long-term grind just like in Diablo 2, which is a good thing for those hardcore Diablo players. How long it will take to reach level 100 is still unknown but it definitely won't be easy.
Not only that, each class will be going through a lot of changes. Blizzard has made a preview post for each class explaining the changes coming to 1.0.4. Blizzard is hoping that the changes made will open more builds option for each class, because at the current state some skills and runes are not even close to being viable in end game.
This 1.0.4 is a great start to get players interested again. It took awhile but it looks like Blizzard is on the right track with Diablo 3. Diablo 3 is a great game overall but finding better gear after beating inferno difficulty is not enough to keep playing. I stopped playing a month ago, but I'll definitely check out the game when the patch goes live.
Gamescom 2012 is currently on-going at Cologne, Germany and there was just tons of trailers coming out of the event. Instead of continuing the solo posts for each one, I decided to sum it all up in one post for your viewing pleasure. From The Last of Us, Assassin's Creed 3, to a new God of War: Ascension trailer. It's trailers galore!
The Last of Us
Dead Space 3 Weapon Crafting
This video is more of an explanation really. We know all about co-op as the new feature for Dead Space 3, but now Visceral Games announced weapon crafting. Want a Line Gun with a flamethrower? Boom! You got it.
Crysis 3 Hunter Mode trailer
Crysis 3's Hunter Mode is a new multiplayer mode. Two hunters wearing nanosuits are tasked to prevent a group of Cell soldiers from reaching the extraction point.
ZombiU Gamescom trailer
Sadly, this is the only reason why I want a Wii U.
Assassin's Creed 3 Naval Battles trailer
The Unfinished Swan
You got to love indie games. The Unfinished Swan is a PS3 exclusive and the game is literally a white space. You throw black paint in order to reveal your surroundings. It's one of those games that people wonder if this can be considered art.
Star Wars 1313 gameplay trailer
I haven't been excited for a Star Wars game in a long time. Game looks amazing but it's unusual that until now we have no announcement on 1313's platforms. People are hinting this could be rolled over to next-gen consoles. Either way, can't wait.
God of War: Ascension multiplayer trailer
God of War having multiplayer. I won't bother ranting and just accept it. I hated the fact that Mass Effect 3 was getting a multiplayer, but in the end it turned out as a lot of fun. So I'll just keep quiet because this might turn out fun. Brutally killing another player God of War style does sound good though.
Planetside 2 trailer
That was quite a handful and I'm pretty sure I'm still missing a couple more trailers and videos. Click out Gamescom archives to have a look at all post related to this year's Gamescom.
During Gamescom 2012, EA released a new trailer for Dead Space 3 showing that Necromorphs are back and Isaac really can't take a break from the horror. Not too happy with the addition of co-op but this trailer game me a glimpse of hope that they retained the horror we love from this franchise. Check the trailer below.
Along with the trailer, they revealed the game's official release date. You get to stomp on corpses again on February 5, 2013 on Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
