The Game Awards has confirmed that critically acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro will be live at Thursday's award show as a presenter.

Del Toro is the celebrated director of Pan's Labyrinth and The Devil's Backbone as well as the architect of blockbusters like Hellboy and Pacific Rim. He'll be joining Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, who is currently working on Death Stranding at his studio Kojima Productions.

A couple years ago, Kojima and del Toro were working together on a new Silent Hill game. They made meaningful progress with a 'playable teaser' released on PSN. But then suddenly, the project was cancelled. and Kojima was unceremoniously let go of from Konami, the publisher he worked for nearly three decades.

Currently, del Toro plays a character in Death Stranding, though he is apparently not as involved in creative decision making as he was with the Silent Hill project. Del Toro's appearance suggests but does not guarantee that we may learn or see new stuff from Death Stranding.
