Quick Look: Brawlout's Steam Early Access

Brawlout was just released in Steam's Early Access program, so we give the familiar brawler a spin.

Just by looking at the game you pretty much have an idea of where the inspiration came from. With just less than 3GB in size, Angry Mob Games has released a solid foundation to build on as they introduce those itching for another fighting game on the PC platform.

At this time, there is only six character and five stages to choose from, but the game is playable in all the modes currently available. Local versus works wonders gameplay-wise but we did encounter a few controller issues as we attempt to start a local 1v1 session which you can see below. Online mode is available and Brawlout has its very own Discord channel to organizes matches and discuss about the game.

It's a fun fighting game at its current state. The mechanics are quite familiar, making it easy to pick up once the matches start. The game's Discord channel is quite active for a young game, and that's good. Support this early in development might shape up the balancing of the game as they move forward. It feels like there's much more that needs to be done, but the foundation is there, and it's a solid one. we'll see how the game shapes up in the coming months, but so far so good.

Depending on where you are, Brawlout is available on Steam Early Access for $19.99, £14.99, or €19.99.
