Paladins Is Getting A Battle Royale Mode, Because Why Not

Hi-Rez Studio has announced a new game mode that's pretty much another battle royale similar to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. It's called Paladins: Battlegrounds and it's 100 heroes dumped into a huge map to see who will be the last man standing.

Calling it "the first-ever hero-shooter battle royale.”, weapons will be scattered for players to pick up and bombs will drop randomly in certain areas. This is originally a hero team-based shooter with class abilities and mounts, so it will be interesting to see how it will be implemented in a battle royale setting. Paladins: Battlegrounds is planned for release sometime this year.

This isn't the first time a game included a similar game mode thanks to its popularity. Epic Games released a Battle Royale mode for Fortnite for free and instantly found popularity months after release. With Hi-Rez joining in and wanting a piece of that pie, I wouldn't be surprised if we see more like this from other companies in the coming months.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is one of the biggest success stories of 2017, who currently peaked 3M concurrent players on Steam based on Steam Charts.Paladins was released back in 2016 and is greatly inspired by Blizzard's hit shooter Overwatch.
