Apex Legends Mobile Will Shut Down on May 1
/EA and Respawn Entertainment have released a surprise announcement that their Free-to-play shooter Apex Legends Mobile will be shutting down its servers for good on May 1, 4 PM PDT.
Starting today, Respawn will be disabling all real money in-app purchases in the game as well as removing the title from various web stores. People still interested in playing the game can do so from now until the start of May.
Unfortunately, no refunds will be given to those that have spent money on the game, according to the FAQ.
“We will not be providing refunds for real money purchases, per the terms of the EA User Agreement. For any other refund requests, please contact the third party platform you purchased game content from, e.g. the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.”
Apex Legends Mobile officially released back in May 2022 and it looks like after eight months, they weren’t able to capture a sizable playerbase to convince EA that it’s worth supporting it any further. The original game, Apex Legends, still remains as one of the biggest battle royale free-to-play titles on consoles and PC, so there shouldn’t be any concern on the main game.
According to EA, despite “Despite Apex Mobile’s strong start, the ongoing experience was not going to meet the expectations of our players.”.
We will update this page when more information comes to light.
This isn’t the only EA mobile game getting the shutdown as the company also announced it ceased any further development of their upcoming free-to-play shooter Battlefield Mobile, a game that has been in the beta phase for select countries. To make matters worse, VentureBeat reports that Industrial Toys, the developer working on Battlefield Mobile, will be shutting down. It’s not clear how many jobs will be lost in this closure.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
