Back 4 Blood Development Ends, Devs to Focus on New Project
/Developer Turtle Rock Studios have just announced that they can’t continue working on creating more content for their 4-player co-op shooter Back 4 Blood and will put their efforts on their next title, which has yet to be announced.
“Turtle Rock Studios is actually pretty small for a studio making AAA games. We don’t have quite enough folks to continue working on Back 4 Blood content while we spin up another game – yes, another game! Given this, it’s time for us to put our heads down, get back in the lab, and get to work on the next big thing.” says Turtle Rock in their announcement via their website.
Back 4 Blood was released back in 2021 and since then released three expansions – Tunnels of Terror, Children of the Worm, and River of Blood. Each paid DLC added more acts, new Cleaners and special infected to the game. River of Blood was the last major DLC completing the contents of the game’s season pass. Despite all the new content, it wasn’t enough to keep Turtle Rock Studios to focus mainly on supporting the game.
Back 4 Blood was considered to be the spiritual successor to Valve’s Left 4 Dead series but struggled to gain the same traction and appeal.
The game will be around, just don’t expect new Cleaners or new infected to mix things up in your next run of the game. Back 4 Blood is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC with cross-play support. The game is also available through Xbox and PC Game Pass and was just recently available through PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium/Deluxe tiers last month.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
