Dead by Daylight Mid-Chapter Update Changes 39 Perks, Gameplay and Progression
/Behavior released a lengthy mid-chapter update, which explains upcoming changes to Dead by Daylight. How you progress and unlock perks, the speed of earning bloodpoints, and prestige will change. Most importantly, 39 killer and survivor perks were adjusted in the hopes of shifting the game’s meta in a new direction.
Dead by Daylight Mid-chapter Update
This mid-chapter update, if updated to live servers, will change how you play Dead by Daylight. If you’re an avid player, you might want to sit down because there’s a lot to take in.
It seems like the whole goal of this update is to reduce the amount of grinding needed to unlock perks and change how players play the game entirely, as there are new mechanics in place that discourage certain play styles, for example - killers camping survivors already hooked.
Here’s a quick rundown of what’s coming. These changes to gameplay and perks mentioned are expected to hit the game’s Public Test Build (PTB) sometime next week.
Progression
Unlocking perks now tied to Prestige. Hitting prestige on a character unlocks the perks to all characters available to you
Grinding to unlock perks on characters with this new update will reduce grinding by 75%
New Prestige system will be capped at 100. There will be Prestige rewards until Prestige 9
Prestiging no longer resets items and perks of that character
Players that reached Prestige 3 before the update will be given rewards
Perks bought in the Shrine of Secrets will automatically earn you the tier one version of the perk you just bought
Matchmaking
Matchmaking incentives: bonus bloodpoints gained if you play the role that is most needed for the given day you are playing
Matchmaking incentives will only be active with cross-play activated.
Gameplay Changes
General
Completing a generator will now take 90 seconds (up from 80 seconds)
Killers kicking a generator will now instantly remove 2.5% progression of its maximum progress
Killer Changes
Breaking walls and pallets will be 10% faster
Kicking Generators will be 10% faster
Recovery from a successful basic hit will be 10% faster
Bloodlust tier 2 activates 5 seconds faster, Bloodlust tier 3 activates 10 seconds faster
Survivor Changes
Unhooked survivors will receive the Endurance effect (can withstand one basic attack from killer) for 5 seconds
Unhooked survivors will receive a 7% Haste effect for 5 seconds
Unhooked survivors with the haste and endurance effect will lose the effects when doing an action (repairing generator, healing, opening gates, etc)
The list above are already game changers, but they didn’t stop there as they’ve reworked 39 perks, nerfing the most used perks in the game’s meta today, while greatly improving other perks

You can read the changes for each perk in the developer post as I'm quite optimistic for the changes done, even on the nerfs given to the most used perks as it feels like it’s not a change to reduce their effectiveness but to widen the amount of perks used.
On June 27, 11 AM ET, Behavior Interactive will be discussing all of these changes on their Twitch channel. For now, take in all the changes, as Dead by Daylight will feel different in the near future.
