Dead Island 2 Reintroduced, Releases Early Next Year

Dead Island 2 was reintroduced during Gamescom 2022, releasing early February 2023.

After eight years since Dead Island 2 was announced, it was reintroduced once again during Gamescom Opening Night 2022 and is releasing February 2023 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC through the Epic Games Store.

The slapstick humor we saw on the first trailer seems to have been translated on the game itself as it’s goofy but filled with all kinds of gore. Just like the first game, it will be a sandbox with absurd melee combat. The game will feature co-op support for up to three players.

Here’s a quick description of Dead Island 2 provided by Publisher Deep Silver.

“A deadly virus is spreading across Los Angeles, turning its inhabitants into ravenous zombies. The city is under quarantine and the military have retreated. Bitten, infected, but more than just immune, you learn to harness the tainted zombie powers running through your veins. Only you, and the handful of other swaggering assholes who happen to be resistant to the pathogen, hold the future of Los Angeles (and humanity), in the balance. You were born for this.”

The cinematic trailer above features Jacob, one of the six playable characters in the game. In the trailer below, it’s all gameplay, giving you a good look at what to expect from this long-awaited sequel.

Dead Island 2 is one of the many games revealed during Gamescom Opening Night 2022. The Lords of the Fallen, New Tales from the Borderlands, and more were announced during the event.
