Endless Dungeon Gets New Community-Created Hero Alongside the 'Dead or Online' Update
/Sega announced that developer Amplitude Studios is set to update Endless Dungeon with the “Dead or Online” update on June 20, 2024. This update introduces Viggie the Locksmith, a new hero co-created with the community through the Games2Gether platform. Alongside Viggie, the update brings new turrets, a stunning electric handgun, and various quality-of-life improvements.
New Hero - Viggie the Locksmith
The developer is adding Viggie the Locksmith, a hero created over 5 months with the community through a voting system that determined seven key aspects of the character — Origin story, personality, gameplay style, active skill, ultimate skill, alternate skin, and idle animation.
Here’s how the developers described the new hero.
Viggie (or V'jik) is Z'Vali, a people who are known for two curious traits: their fascination with all academic fields where science and philosophy intersect and their suspicion that the galaxy is a giant simulation, whose coders are keeping just one step ahead of them.
Seeking an answer to this question, Viggie undertook a series of expeditions to find the biggest surviving data centre of the Endless. Her reasoning was simple: if anyone could figure it out, they could, and if it's true, that's where she'll find the details. Those inquiries led her to the Station, and now she wants her answers.
“Dead or Online” Update Highlights
The update will consist of general enhancements for the game as well as balancing changes. The biggest additions will be the inclusion of two new turrets — the Insta Havoc Turret which creates powerful explosions, and the Healing Fountain, a new source of healing for heroes present in the turret’s effective area.
Players will also be getting a new weapon called the Cardiac Processing Unit, an electric handgun capable of stunning enemies.
Games2gather continues to assist developers
The developers are taking a unique approach as they continue to update Endless Dungeon, a roguelite action game released back in 2023. With Games2gether, players can assist developers with constructive feedback to help with ongoing development or update of a title. Amplitude Games Studios isn’t the first company to apply this community platform as other studios such as Creative Assembly, Relic Entertainment, and Two Point Studios have adopted this unique approach in their development.
The new hero Viggie and the “Dead or Online” update goes live on June 20 for free for all players that own Endless Dungeon.
Endless Dungeon is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
