Fallout 4 Is Getting a Free Next-gen Update in 2023
/Bethesda is concluding its month-long 25th anniversary celebration of the Fallout franchise and revealed not only new events for Fallout 76 but confirming that Fallout 4 will be getting a free next-gen update sometime in 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC.
Fallout 4 getting a free next-gen update
The next-gen update will be for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC. The update is said to include a performance mode which adds higher frame rates, quality features for 4k resolution, bug fixes, and bonus Creation Club content.
Fallout 4 was enhanced in the last generation for the Xbox One X as the system was able to run the game at 4L and 30fps. With Xbox’s FPS Boost feature, the Xbox Series X|S was able to make the game run at 60fps though only at 1080p.
Though they didn’t go into detail, it’s possible that this update will allow current-gen consoles to run the game at 60fps at a much higher resolution. Hopeful they provide more details as to what exactly is added in this free update.
No release date was given.
It was a short and subtle announcement, but something I’m sure players will appreciate. Fallout 4 was released way back in 2015 and is still considered to be the franchises best-selling title as Bethesda claims they shipped 12 million copies for launch day alone.
More Fallout 76 goodies to celebrate 25 years of Fallout
The post with the next-gen update announcement is still mainly about the anniversary celebration, highlighting the Halloween event happening on Fallout 76 called Shambling Scorched.
Players of Fallout 76 will also be given a free item daily through the in-game store from October 25 to November 8. The game still features special challenges during the 25th anniversary event that features unique rewards.
Those subscribed to Prime Gaming and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can also claim the 25th Anniversary Bundle for the game for free. The bundle contains five Lunchboxes, a Lincoln’s Repeater skin, five Bubblegums, a Vault Boy Portrait, and a Shooting Target Suite.
