Foamstars Launching on February 6, Will Be Available on PS Plus on Day One
/Square Enix announced that their upcoming 4v4 online shooter Foamstars is set to launch on February 6 on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The game will also be available to all PlayStation Plus subscribers on day one.
This isn’t Foamstars being part of the Game and Classic Catalogue but part of the Monthly Games offering for all Essential, Extra, and Premium/Deluxe members. Simply put, if you are subscribed when Foamstars goes live in the first week of February, you can claim the game to be added in your PlayStation Plus library and play it anytime as long as you are subscribed.
There is a difference as titles in the PS Plus Catalogues has a chance to leave the service while titles that are offered through Monthly Games are added to your library and will be available after the offer is over. Foamstars will be offered from February 6 to March 6, 2024.
Multiplayer Game Modes
Square Enix also shared new details about the game as Foamstars will feature three PvP multiplayer modes at launch — Smash the Star, Happy Bath Survival, and Rubber Duck Party. Each mode will feature three maps.
Based on a press release provided by the publisher, Square Enix also detailed Foamstars’ Missions, as “Foamstar and Squad Missions introduce solo and team based PvE experiences, where players are tasked with protecting Bath Vegas from a series of randomized encounters. Missions give players the opportunity tolearn about the FOAMSTARS athletes, hone skills, and play with friends, helping everyone to feel prepped and ready to foam in the competitive PvP matches.”
Just like every online game that was released in recent years, Foamstars will be supported through seasonal updates throughout the year for free. The game will be updated with new cosmetics, playable characters, maps, and new game modes each season, and each one will have its own Season Pass that features a free reward track and an optional Premium reward track for those interested in spending to earn more rewards for their time playing the game.
This will be music to the ears of kids who grew up on the series, but for the uninitiated, there’s nothing quite like the Mario & Luigi games. Mario & Luigi Brothership does its best to appeal to a wide range of players with charming presentation and a strong new Battle Plug system, but not everyone will be enamored with its reflex-testing gameplay.
