Ghost of Yōtei Launches October 2 on PS5 — New Trailer, Pre-orders, and Editions Revealed

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Sucker Punch Productions have revealed that their follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima, titled Ghost of Yōtei, will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025.

Ghost of Yōtei is a Vengeance Journey

A new trailer dropped with our first good look at the game, setting the stage for Ghost of Yōtei’s story. We follow Atsu, the game’s protagonist, on a path of revenge after her entire family is murdered during her childhood. She’s left for dead—crucified against a burning ginkgo tree just outside her home.

The ones responsible? A group known as the Yōtei Six. Players will hunt them down across a new region called Ezo (Known as Hokkaido in present day), uncovering clues and intel on each target before taking them out one by one—in any order they choose.

“In Ghost of Yōtei, we’ve built upon and evolved the way you explore the open world, offering even more freedom and variety than in Ghost of Tsushima. You’ll choose which leads to follow as you pick which Yōtei Six member you want to hunt down first.” Says Andrew Goldfarb, Senior Communications Manager at Sucker Punch in his blog post on the game.

“Atsu can also track other dangerous targets and claim bounties, or seek out weapon sensei to learn new skills. Ezo is wild, and as deadly as it is beautiful. As you trek across the open world you’ll find unexpected dangers and peaceful reprieves (including some returning activities from Tsushima), and you’ll be able to build a campfire anywhere in the open world for a rest under the stars. We want you to have the freedom to explore Ezo however you decide to, and we can’t wait to share more.”

While this was our first solid look at gameplay, it still feels like more of a tease. Hopefully, more in-depth details will be revealed as we get closer to launch.

With the release date locked in, Sucker Punch has also revealed pre-order incentives and the editions available.

Players who pre-order will receive an exclusive in-game mask and a set of seven PSN avatars featuring concept art of Atsu and each member of the Yōtei Six.

Pre-orders go live on May 2, 2025.

Ghost of Yōtei Collector’s Edition

For collectors, Ghost of Yōtei's premium edition includes everything in the Digital Deluxe package, plus a bunch of physical goodies. Headlining the bundle is a to-scale replica of Atsu’s Ghost mask—designed to match the size and detail of Jin’s Ghost mask from Ghost of Tsushima’s Collector’s Edition. The mask measures 6.8 x 5 x 5.9 inches, is crafted in resin, and comes with a display stand.

Is Ghost of Yōtei a direct sequel to Ghost of Tsushima?

Nope. Jin’s story was set during the Mongol invasion of Japan in 1274. Ghost of Yōtei is set in 1603, 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. So this will be a complete cast of characters and environments where you explore Ezo and the lands that surround mount Yōtei,
