Go Go Town! Is a Cozy Town Building Game With Couch Co-Op, Launching in 2024
/During the ID@Xbox digital event we attended, we saw four indie titles, and one of them was Go Go Town! a cute-looking cozy town-building game with 4-player couch co-op at launch. This title is being developed by developer Prideful Sloth, which is currently just a 5-man team based in Australia.
Go Go Town! was the last title showcased and it’s another cozy simulator that you can bring your friends along for the ride. You play as a new mayor of a town and you or some of your friends will be responsible for almost everything that happens in the town to the point that you build, gather, grow crops, and refine pretty much everything about the town.
From what we saw, the player/s have pretty much a good amount of freedom to customize their town’s layout as it has UI elements you’d come to expect from city sim games. The gameplay footage shown saw players exploring the outskirts of the town and features a variety of vehicles designed to help you be more efficient in managing the town
Here’s a quick rundown of key features of Go Go Town:
Key Features
You’re the major; build, terraform, decorate and manage a fully fledged town and its inhabitants
Play solo or with friends
Customise your character
Unlock upgrades to access new power tools, buildings and gameplay options
Experience the stories of the town as well as the unique individuals who live therein
Gather and refine materials
Build and maintain farms, forestries and mines
Automate production, delivery and fulfilment
Impress tourists to gain fame - rise on the town ranking list
Use a variety of vehicles to get around or carry cargo
Explore to discover new zones and rare materials
Avoid disasters, and deal with critters and pests
Keep the city clean and functional
The visual art style is very inviting and vibrant, and the fact that the game is launching with up to 4 players locally, splitting the screen, effectively lets players go off on their own to do their own thing for their town.
When presenting the game, Prideful Sloth emphasized how important couch co-op is for them as the feature will make players jump into a game or simply leave with ease. Online co-op is something they are working on but likely after the game officially launches sometime in 2024 on PC and consoles.
You can try out Go Go Town! right now through Steam as they have a playable demo available.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
