GoldenEye 007 Launches in Nintendo Switch Online and Xbox Game Pass This Week
/N64’s classic FPS game GoldenEye 007 will be released on Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pass service and on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass on January 27, 2023.
Everybody who owns a Nintendo N64 system knows GoldenEye 007 and its famous multiplayer mode. A new version is coming to Xbox and Switch but sadly will have different features.
The Nintendo Switch version will be the only new version of GoldenEye 007 to have online multiplayer, while the Xb will feature alternative control options, achievements, and native 16:9 resolution up to 4K ultra HD. Those who play the Xbox version will have to work with the game’s local multiplayer mode or split-screen just like the old days.
This is a classic that’s been requested by fans for years and it makes sense that both platforms have decided to provide a new version of the game, though it’s unfortunate that both new versions aren’t identical to what it will offer.
GoldenEye 007 will be available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers but those who own a digital copy of the collection title Rare Replay – which is a 30-game compilation of Rare’s games – will get GoldenEye 007 for free.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
