Helldivers 2 Tops 12 Million Units Sold in Just 12 Weeks, Beating God of War Ragnarok Record
/Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that the live service game Helldivers 2 is now PlayStation’s fastest-selling game launch ever as the 4-player co-op shooter reached over 12 million copies sold across PC and PS5 in the first 12 weeks. This also makes the shooter PlayStation’s biggest PC game to date.
According to Sony Interactive Entertainment interim CEO Hiroki Totoki, this milestone also beats the previous record PlayStation record holder last year as God of War Ragnarok sold 11 million copies in 10 weeks.
Helldivers 2 continues to be a big success story for both developer Arrowhead Games Studio and PlayStation, but not without controversies. A few weeks back, Sony attempted to reapply their PSN linking requirement for Steam PC players and was met with an overwhelming backlash from the community, tanking Steam reviews for the game. It was then made worse for regions without PSN support as Sony restricted the selling of Helldivers 2 in these regions. Days go by and due to player feedback, Sony announced that PSN linking requirement was no longer pushing through. Despite the backpedaling, Helldivers 2 still remains unavailable for a good amount of regions due to the fact that they don’t have PSN support.
PS5 lifetime sales are now at 59 million
In the report, Sony also reported that they have shipped 20.8 million PlayStation 5 consoles during the fiscal year 2023, a 29% decline year-over-year. This brings the lifetime sales of the current PlayStation console to 59.3 million.
The report also shows a sales increase of 17% year-on-year to 4.26 trillion yen. The company attributes this increase to an increase in sales of non-first-party titles as well as add-on content.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
