Trailers released for Overwatch 2’s new character Sojourn
/Blizzard have released new trailers for Sojourn, a new character coming to Overwatch 2. An Origin story trailer was released to give insight on her background and relation to the other Overwatch characters, plus a gameplay trailer showing off Sojourn in action.
Vivian Chase, or better known as Sojourn, is a member of the Canadian special forces and takes the leader role when she was part of Overwatch, assuring that the other members of Overwatch remain safe when taking on missions. She worked alongside Soldier 76 back in the Omnic War and worked well, which resulted in her being invited to join the team.
Sojourn is a mid-range hero with a lot of mobility based on the latest gameplay trailer released. Her Power Slide can put the player in very favorable positions to disrupt and pressure enemy teams, using her Disruptor shot to damage multiple enemies and slow them down, which in turn makes them an easier target for her Rail Gun’s primary and secondary fire. Her shots become extra deadly when her Ultimate Overclock is activated as her Railgun becomes extra deadly as all her shots pierce through multiple enemies.
Here’s a quick description of Sojourn’s tool kit.
Rail Gun
Primary Fire: Rapid-firing projectiles that generate energy on impact
Secondary Fire: High-impact shot that consumes stored energy
Power Slide
Ground slide that can cancel into a high jump
Disruptor Shot
Launch an energy shot that slow and deals damage to enemies within it
Ultimate: Overclock
Railgun energy auto-charges for a short duration and charged shots pierce enemies
Overwatch 2 will have a closed beta starting on April 26 and Sojourn will be available to those fortunate enough to participate in the testing session. The Overwatch League returns on May 5 and will use the latest build of the sequel from the beta, so we could see Sojourn in action if teams want to experiment with her in live games.
While it’s exciting to learn the new additions to this online shooter, don’t expect Overwatch 2 to release anytime in 2022. In an Activision Blizzard earnings call back in February 2022, the company doesn’t expect the game to launch this year. Overwatch 2 will be available on consoles and PC with no release date given since it was announced back in 2019.
