Niantic and Capcom Announced Monster Hunter Now for ios and Android
/Niantic and Capcom have announced that they’ve partnered to bring a new mobile title called Monster Hunter Now to Android and iOS devices. Similar to the studio's previous games like Pokemon Go, players will require to go out into the real world to hunt monsters from the Monster Hunter universe.
A teaser of the game is out and you can see it below.
It’s not entirely clear how one will play the game but if there’s one studio that can integrate amazing AR features, it will be Niantic.
Sign-ups for the closed beta tests for the game are now available as you can register now through the game’s official website the first beta test starts on April 25 and will be limited as they expect to accept around 10,000 participants.
In a report by Eurogamer, Niantic, and Cacom have been working on this game for four years as the first discussion about Monster Hunter Now began back in 2019. The project is being worked on Niantic’s Tokyo-based team, which previously worked on Pikmin Bloom which was released back in 2021.
In Monster Hunter Now, just like any game from the series, you’ll be accompanied by your very own Palico and will have the option to team up with other hunters in your area. Players will have to physically visit certain locations in their area to gather resources and could encounter monsters while roaming around. Just like Pokémon Go the monsters you encounter is based on your location.
What’s good to hear is that combat is straightforward as it’s said that each encounter will last for 75 seconds at max, making it a friendly game for commuters.
Monster Hunter Now is set to officially launch on September 2023. It’s not clear if they are going for a worldwide release or by specific regions.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is now my favorite title from the Persona team by far. It’s one of those rare games where its main pillars work harmoniously, and you get lost in its charm. It’s a pristine JRPG, with enough style and substance to satisfy hardcore JRPG fans, Persona fans, and even those who rarely touch JRPGs.
