Rainbow Six Siege’s Upcoming Operator Launches Canisters Filled With Bees
/Rainbow Six Siege Operation Vector Glare is coming to an end and Ubisoft have revealed the next season, Operation Brutal Swarm, will feature new attacker Operator named Grim, equipped with a Kawan hive launcher that launches canisters that releases swarms of bees. He’s a fast character that can gather intel and he’s not the only thing coming to the competitive shooter.
Who is Grim in Rainbow Six Siege?
In terms of the game’s current narrative, Grim is an Operator based from Singapore and is joining Khali’s Nighthaven, the team that currently opposes Team Rainbow. What makes him unique is not only is he a 3-speed intel gatherer operator, but his gadget can snuff out roamers and those anchoring in objectives by exposing their position.
His gadget is a Kawan hive launcher that shoots a canister that when deployed sends swarms of bees at a location. The swarm doesn’t roam but stays in the radius of where the canister landed. Enemies that come in contact with these swarms will emit a lingering ping of their location to the attacker side.
The new gadget has its fair share of counters in the defender side as Mute’s signal jammers can deactivate those affected by a swarm while Jaeger and Wamai’s gadgets can disrupt an incoming canister from Grim. These canisters are also vulnerable to any form of electricity.
Grim is equipped with a 552 Commando assault rifle, theSG CQB shotgun, and the P229 as a secondary weapon. As added tools in a round, he can bring breach charges or claymores.
This movement speed will be a big factor for aggressive plays and can go nicely to other attacker operators if you want to clear rooms with ease.
What else is coming in Operation Brutal Swarm?
There’s a lot to look forward to in the upcoming season, from balance changes, a new competitive map, a new gadget for attackers, quality of life changes, and improvements to some operators.
Here are the notable changes coming this season.
New competitive map Stadium, the once limited event map used during Six International events
Recoil changes to promote burst fire gameplay other than spray and pray skirmishes.
Balancing changes to the game will now be separate between console and PC platforms.
Match replay will now have the option for players to report players while reviewing a previous match
A more user-friendly tactical map display all the information you need, such as the location of a revealed objective
Text chat sanctions added, those penalized will be muted but with other players having the option to unmute those affected
New gadget for attackers is an EMP impact grenade, a weaker version of Thatcher’s gadget. Operators that will have access to this new gadget will be Sledge, Montagne, Blackbeard, Dokkaebi, Lion, Gridlock, Nokk, Osa, and Recruit.
Map bans in competitive play will now have 5 maps to ban instead of three, adding more map diversity (hopefully).
The ability to buy the game’s current battle pass for a friend will now be available to all players.
Mid-way through the new season, Operator Rook will have a significant buff as his gadget will now also give the withstand ability to operators that pick up and use his armor plates. Withstand allows players in a downed state able to pick themselves up on their own with 20 health. Performing the withstand ability seems to trigger an audio cue, giving attackers information that someone might be getting up.
Dokkaebi’s logic bomb is getting a buff as well as dead operators will now also be affected by this ability, denying more information while the gadget is activating.
All content coming at launch for Operation Brutal Swarm will go live in Rainbow Six Siege’s test servers starting August 22.
