RGG Summit Summer 2023 Happening Mid-June, to Focus on New Titles From the Studio
/Sega announced that they are hosting an event called the “RGG Summit Summer 2023” airing on June 16, 2023, Friday, from 11 AM UTC+8 on their official YouTube channel. The event will focus on Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the developers of the Yakuza series, sharing new information about their upcoming titles.
One of the highly anticipated titles expected to be featured during the event is Like a Dragon 8 (Yakuza 8), the next mainline entry in the Yakuza series. This game will feature both Kazuma Kiryu, the iconic protagonist of the series, and Ichiban Kasuga, the protagonist introduced in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Ryu Ga Gotoku first announced the game in September 2022 and since then, there has been little information released. So far, only the presence of the two protagonists and Kamurocho being the setting has been officially confirmed, leaving fans eagerly waiting for more details.
Additionally, there is another game to look forward to called Like a Dragon: The Man Who Erased His Name. This title aims to explore what Kiryu was doing during the events that took place after Yakuza 6 and during Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the turn-based mainline title that introduced Ichiban as the new protagonist. By filling in the gaps in the story, it is plausible that The Man Who Erased His Name will be released before Like a Dragon 8.
But we’ll wait and see next month if that will be the case. Maybe Ryo Ga Gotoku Studio has more planned. Neither of the upcoming titles has a confirmed release date or window.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
