Riot Games’ Fighting Game Project L Features Duo Play, Playable Demo Confirmed for EVO 2023
/Riot Games has revealed more footage of their upcoming fighting game codename Project L in a new developer diary showcasing the game’s duo play system, allowing its two versus two setups to have each character be controlled by a player.
Four players, two teams going at it. But this system is flexible as it features 1v1, 2v2, and even 2v1 matchups. Before a match, players can choose how they can play synergize together with what Riot is calling the Fuse system. In the dev diary above, it revealed two Fuse options — Double Down, allowing players to combine one player’s ultimate with their partner’s; and 2X assist, allowing a partner to dish out two assists one after the other.
Project L will be playable for the public at EVO 2023
The dev diary also revealed that Project L will be present at EVO 2023 and will have a playable demo available to the public. The demo will feature four heroes; Darius, Ekko, Ahri, and one other Champion that has yet to be revealed.
Project L was first announced back in 2019 and has developed into becoming a 2v2 tag team fighting game similar to titles like Marvel vs Capcom or Dragon Ball FighterZ. The inclusion of duo play is an interesting feature that feels aligned with what the game is based on.
The developers also released another video featuring a full match between four developers playing Project L in Duo Play.
Project L is still not the official title of the fighting game. There is no release date or platform mentioned so far but it’s confirmed to be released as a free-to-play title.
The game’s official website was also updated with information about the duo system and it being available at this year’s EVO tournament.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is now my favorite title from the Persona team by far. It’s one of those rare games where its main pillars work harmoniously, and you get lost in its charm. It’s a pristine JRPG, with enough style and substance to satisfy hardcore JRPG fans, Persona fans, and even those who rarely touch JRPGs.
