The Day Before Delayed to November 10, 2023
/Developer Fntastic surprisingly announced that their MMO survival game The Day Before will be delayed to November 10, 2023 due to a trademark dispute. The game was last planned to launch on March 1.
The Day Before is a highly anticipated game releasing on PC via Steam and on current-gen consoles, but somehow went from releasing in a few weeks to being delayed for nine months because of a trademark issue.
he developers also announced that the promised lengthy gameplay video planned to release later this month will also have to be postponed as they will have to “sort this issue out first”. The studio has yet to reveal actual gameplay footage of the game. You can see the full message below.
Red flags pile on
Back in 2021, Fntastic released an impressive trailer announcing , an open world MMO survival game that looked visually stunning, ambitious, and running in Unreal Engine 5. Players were excited with what we were seeing in the trailer(me included), but people started questioning the game’s validity as the trailer released a few weeks ago was nowhere near as impressive as the first announcement trailer a year ago. You can see the latest trailer below.
Fntastic and the game’s publisher MyTona initially planned to release the game on June 21, 2022, but was moved to March 1, 2023. Now, it’s being pushed again by months. But before the big announcement of its latest delay, players and major outlets noticed that the game was suddenly delisted on Steam. In the game’s Steam Community page, the developers posted a message (now deleted, it seems) claiming that they are experiencing a “minor technical difficulty” in the on the online store. Apparently, that wasn’t the case. The report of it being delisted and the game being delayed were just hours apart. A bit unusual.
To top that all off, It’s crazy that beyond the two trailers mentioned here, we still don’t have a clear idea of how the game will be played. The fact that they still plan to release it within this year puts a large red flag on one of the most wishlisted games on Steam.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on any new developments, but it would be best to stay cautious with this project until they reveal more detail or footage of the game.
Fntastic aims to release The Day Before on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
