The Pioneers: Surviving Desolation 2023 Roadmap shows new vehicles and classes are coming
/Indie studio Supercube has revealed the 2023 roadmap for their space survival sim The Pioneers: Surviving Desolation, and it looks like the game will receive new vehicles, classes, a new station module, and more throughout the year.
The Pioneers: Surviving launched in Steam Early Access back in January and based on the roadmap given, the second quarter will feature a major update called 'Road Trip', which will include the following:
1st Vehicle - The Bear (rover)
New Character Class - The Pilot
New station Module - Hangar
The third quarter of 2023 will be a major update called 'Decisions' and will feature:
New Strategy - 2nd victory condition
New Character Class - The Engineer
New Station Module - Command Center
They plan to add more challenges, quests, and strategic decisions.
Lastly, the fourth quarter update will be 'Out of Control' and will include:
New Threat - Fire!
New Character Class - The Engineer II
New Station Module - Mergency Room
The last update seems a bit grim, as this update will provide more ways to die in the game.
For those unfamiliar with The Pioneers: Surviving Deesolation, players are part of a crew started on one of Jupiter's moon. You'll have to gather resources, explore the land, and essentially stay alive as long as you can.
Here's a quick rundown of the game's features:
Key Features
Explore - Io may be dangerous but it is also home to beautiful, desolate landscapes. Board a rover or a flying drone and venture out to gather precious resources in the various biomes of Io. Explore the land and collect important scientific data to accomplish your mission.
Build - Produce materials, build modules and engineering systems, craft wearable equipment and make food. Utilize the game’s advanced health system to monitor everyone carefully to keep them alive.
Survive - Volcanoes, seismic activity, sulfur winds and magnetic storms will put nearly constant pressure on your crew. Anticipate and adapt. Your crew’s life depends on it.
Manage - Start with 3 different characters chosen randomly from a pool of 15. Adapt to their strengths and weaknesses and use everything they have at their disposal to survive.
Simulate - Multiple winning conditions and endings. Play again and again, take advantage of upgrades, learn the best strategies for survival, and master all of Io’s unforgiving elements.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
