Dead Island 2 now releasing a week earlier
/Developer Dambuster Studios and Publisher Deep Silver announced that Dead Island 2 will be releasing a week earlier as the new release date is now April 21, 2023, from April 28. Together with the date change, they announced that the game has finally gone gold.
It’s a long time coming but Dead Island 2 has reached the point where it can be mass produced for distribution and final touches are left in preparation for its release this April.
Why the sudden move to a week earlier? They didn’t say but there isn’t much competition against a high-profile title if you look at the calendar for that specific week. If they did stick with their April 28 date they’ll have to contend with another highly anticipated title releasing on the same day - Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a title that was recently delayed as the sequel was originally set for a March 17 release but was pushed back to April for more polish.
Probably a good idea as it’s tough going against anything Star Wars.
Dead Island 2 was originally revealed in E3 2014 and the project has experienced a series of delays and issues, hopping from one developer to another. Yager started the project but was then transferred to Sumo Digital. The title was given to another studio a final time in 2019 with Dambuster bringing the title to where it is now.
The last delay Dead Island experienced was last year in November as it was aiming for a February 3 release but was pushed back to April. Thankfully, the latest announcement was a positive release date change as Dead Island fans finally get to experience a sequel as the original game released way back in 2011.
Dead Island 2 will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has the potential to be a favorite for fans of the franchise, delivering an authentic Indiana Jones experience with its story and cinematic presentation. While the game shines in its exploration and puzzle elements, the combat and stealth mechanics’ lack of gameplay variety holds it back.
